Abstract: "In the last 25 years we have seen a series of major disruptions to business as usual. There was the Asian financial crisis in 1997, the dotcom bust in 2000, the SARs crisis in 2002, the tsunamis in 2004 and 2011, the global financial crisis in 2008, the Arab Spring of 2011, the Ebola outbreak in 2014 and covid-19 in 2020. All of these were unexpected events that have huge impact. Add in the threat of global warming, oil price volatility and a refugee crisis around the world, a war in Ukraine, plus the ever-present threat of another pandemic, and the disruptions are incessant. Whether we like it or not, we have to accept that the era of phony certainty is over. What has replaced it is a growing awareness that we cannot hope to control events but must learn to be better at responding to them. We need to build resilience and agility into our lives, including the way business operates. Change is now a constant, disruption is to be expected, and requires an adaptable response. The hope is that this collection of advice and fresh thinking from accomplished business leaders around the world will help the leaders of tomorrow on their journey"--

Abstract: Creative solutions can be challenged and defended in the pursuit of profitability. But first, creativity must be demystified. A process that targets innovation provides leaders with just such a problem-solving approach. The goal is to produce high-quality ideas that are appropriate to the task - which means groups and organizations can implement them with less risk. Work with the targeted innovation process consists of activities in five areas: stating the problem in a way that encourages creative problem solving, learning and understanding different problem-solving styles, learning and understanding creative pathways and their relationship to problem solving, generating ideas, and evaluating those ideas. Targeted innovation reconciles creativity with management. Managers can use it to solve problems that meet their organization's call for innovative answers to current challenges.

Abstract: The follow-up to Marshall Goldsmith's 500,000-copy bestseller The Leader of the Future, Global Leadership: The Next Generation systematically identifies what tomorrow's leaders will need to know, do and believe in order to successfully lead the global enterprise of the future. Drawing on the results of an extraordinary 2-year Accenture study of emerging business leaders, this book shows why the skills of today's global leaders won't be enough--and why tomorrow's leaders won't resemble today's. Goldsmith and his co-authors first identify five new "factors of leadership" and their implications: global thinking, appreciation of diversity, technological savvy, a willingness to partner and an openness to sharing leadership. They explain what it will mean to lead in an era where intellectual capital is the dominant source of value; how to lead people whose backgrounds and values may be radically dissimilar from yours; and why achieving personal self-mastery is now a fundamental prerequisite for leading others. From the evolution of "federated," semi-autonomous organizational structures to the personal leadership challenges now arising from globalism, this book offers unprecedented insights into the new challenges of leadership--and what it will take to meet them.

Abstract: Executives in all industries prize innovation as a key ingredient in market relevance, brand awareness, and bottom-line growth. Too often, though, innovation is relegated to traditional cradles of creativity like R & D and marketing. Now this important new book shows how innovation can be a boon not just to a company's product line, but to every facet of its business. "Doing innovation" company-wide requires not only an attitude of innovation from every individual, but a corporate commitment to a new organizational model, in which every department is expected to innovate. Empowering companies toward that end, the author discusses: idea generation, creating new models, and breaking rules the roles of individuals, groups, and corporate culture in innovation assessing the organization's infrastructure and resources overcoming resistance and identifying what makes innovations fail and every other component of creating economic value through innovation.
