    Abstract: Der Band bietet eine aktuelle Einführung in die Grundlagen der Sozialpsychologie. Mit dem Fokus auf das Individuum in der sozialen Welt werden die wichtigsten sozialpsychologischen Theorien und Methoden anschaulich dargestellt. Der Band führt in Konzepte des sozialen Selbst ein und betrachtet dabei problematische Persönlichkeitsmerkmale wie Autoritarismus, Narzissmus und Soziale Dominanzorientierung. Kognitive Konsistenz und Dissonanz sowie Kontrollstreben und -verlust, interpersonale Attraktion und physische Attraktivität bilden weitere thematische Schwerpunkte. Das Kapitel zu den Methoden beleuchtet Befragungen und Experimente als die wichtigsten sozialpsychologischen Forschungsverfahren. Außerdem werden sozial-kognitive Prozesse wie soziale Wahrnehmung, soziale Urteile und Entscheidungen sowie deren neurowissenschaftliche Bezüge ausführlich erläutert. Der Band schließt mit spannenden Kapiteln über Einstellungen, Stereotype und Vorurteile ab. Alle Kapitel sind mit Abbildungen, Kästen und Zusammenfassungen zur besseren Veranschaulichung der sozialpsychologischen Begriffe und Zusammenhänge angereichert. Zudem finden sich am Ende der Kapitel Verständnisfragen zur optimalen Prüfungsvorbereitung.
