Abstract: IBM WebSphere Host Access Transformation Services (HATS) provides tools to quickly and easily extend your legacy green-screen applications to the Web. HATS makes your 3270 and 5250 applications available as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) through Web browsers. It also converts your host screens to a Web look and feel. Using HATS, you can improve the workflow and navigation of your host applications without any access or modification to source code. HATS has a development component called HATS Studio, which runs in WebSphere Studio. There is no specialized HATS runtime server. All of the necessary runtime information is deployed into an Enterprise Archive (EAR) file and runs in WebSphere Application Server. This IBM Redbooks publication helps you to tailor and configure the new features that are included with HATS V5. Examples and usage scenarios demonstrate how to implement many of the new features and functions, along with those that were present in previous releases of HATS.

Abstract: ThinkVantage Technologies bring your IBM PCs one step closer to being self-configured, self-optimizing, self-protecting, or self-healing, to help save you time and money throughout the life of your systems. In short, ThinkVantage Technologies let you focus your attention on your business, rather than on your computer. ThinkVantage Technologies are software tools designed to help customers drive down IT support costs (in particular, the cost of a PC in managing and supporting systems after its initial purchase), increase security and decrease the complexity of today’s IT infrastructure. This series of Redbooks will help you install, tailor and configure the IBM ThinkVantage Technologies on IBM and OEM desktops. Using ThinkVantage Technologies, Volume 1: Creating and Deploying Client Systems describes how to create and deploy client systems. The tools covered include: - ImageUltra Builder - System Migration Assistant - Secure Data Disposal - Access Connections - Active Protection System

Abstract: This IBM Redbooks publication will help you to migrate the Siebel 2000 V6.2.1 database from: DB2 for NT V6 to DB2 for OS/390 V6 Oracle for NT V8.1.6 to DB2 for NT V6 Oracle for NT V8.1.6 to DB2 for OS/390 V6 The book describes the migration experiences gained while migrating a Siebel 2000 database at the IBM ITSO Poughkeepsie Center in New York, and at the IBM Hursley Laboratory in the UK. It provides an overview of Siebel architecture, and introduces the migration methodology needed to move the Siebel database from a DB2/Oracle for NT platform to a DB2 for OS/390 platform. It offers a step-by-step description of the database migration process, and discusses in detail the different methods of moving data from one platform to the other. This book will be especially useful for those migrating the Siebel database for the first time.

Abstract: This IBM Redbooks publication shows the different techniques customers can use to clone their DB2 system. Although the scenarios in the book use an SAP workload, the DB2 cloning techniques we describe are not specific to SAP. Those techniques can apply to any DB2 system and the applications running on that DB2. The book describes hands-on details of selected DB2 database cloning scenarios, typically the most popular techniques currently used by customers, as well as the most efficient scenarios we would like to recommend to DB2 database administrators. The scenarios described in this book are based on SAP examples. Our source system resides on a DB2 data sharing group. We have one target system residing on another DB2 data sharing group and one residing on a non-data sharing DB2. All source and target systems are in the same OS/390 Sysplex environment. We discuss and show DB2 system cloning techniques using the following methods: - ESS Flashcopy - DFSMS copy and rename The book addresses an audience with in depth knowledge of DB2 for z/OS and OS/390 database administration and savy in SAP system requirements.

Abstract: This new release of Communications Server for AIX includes many new features and functions that make CS/AIX a more important player in bridging the e-business gap between the Internet and critical legacy data applications. Support for secure TN3270 communications with SSL and load balancing with SLP are critical in insuring secure and consistent communications with the host. Support for high performance routing, branch network configurations, and channel attachment are significant in that they allow placement of Communications Server anywhere it benefits performance most in the customer's IP or SNA network. This book covers the new features and functions in Communications Server for AIX, Version 6. Each feature is explained. Implementation steps are listed for most features, and sample scenarios are reviewed to give a better understanding of where a feature or function may fit in your networking environment. Guidelines given in this IBM Redbooks publication are general. Several scenarios are included, and although actual customer networks most likely will differ, these scenarios serve as examples for customers to develop proper plans to expand or migrate their networks to meet future business requirements. Customers are invited to engage IBM in the planning process.
