    Abstract: MACHINE-GENERATED SUMMARY NOTE: "Popüler kültürün orijinine ilişkin tartışmalar akademisyenler arasında halen devam etmektedir. Kültürel çalışmalar kuramcıları, kitlesel üretime geçişin (dolayısıyla dağıtımın ve tüketimin kitleselleşmesinin) bugün anladığımız anlamdaki popüler kültürün oluşmasının habercisi olduğunu ileri sürerler. [...] Bu yaklaşımların neler olduğunu tek tek bu makale kapsamında tartışmak mümkün değil. Ancak kültür akışının ‘kültürel homojenlikle’, yani türdeşleştirici bir kültürel temsil biçimi oluşturmasıyla aynı anlama gelmediğini burada belirtmem gerekiyor. Popüler kültür aracılığıyla gerçekleşen kültür akışı yerel kimliklerin yeniden biçimlendiği bir süreç olarak görülmektedir. Bu bakış açısı, bizi yerel kimlikleri durağan görmekten uzaklaştırarak, onları çeşitli söylemlerin oluşturduğu yapılanmaların süreci olarak kavramlaştırmamıza olanak verir." -- "Discussions about the origin of popular culture still continue among academics. Cultural studies theorists argue that the transition to mass production (hence the mass production of distribution and consumption) heralds the formation of popular culture as we understand it today. [...] It is not possible to discuss what these approaches are individually within the scope of this article. However, I have to point out that the flow of culture does not mean 'cultural homogeneity', that is, forming a homogenising form of cultural representation. The flow of culture through popular culture is seen as a process in which local identities are reshaped. This perspective takes us away from seeing local identities as static and allows us to conceptualize them as the process of structuring formed by various discourses."
