Zahlen, Daten, Fakten werden präzise eingeordnet und mit Einzelberichten kontrastiert. Ein Wegweiser für den Abbau von Vorurteilen und ein gelungenes Miteinander in der Migrationsgesellschaft.
    Abstract: How do refugee women live, what resources do they have and what challenges do they face? This book provides insights into the lives of female refugees in Austria, who are growing in number but remain largely invisible in public discourse. Drawing on data from a mixed-methods survey, the authors analyse refugees’ social contacts, education and educational aspirations, participation in the labour market, experiences of discrimination and the role of the family and family work in successful integration. Figures, data and facts are presented in great detail and contrasted with personal accounts. This book serves as a guide to countering prejudices and fostering peaceful coexistence in our modern migration society.

    Abstract: This book documents the findings and recommendations of research into the question of how IT laws should develop on the understanding that today's information and communication technology is shaped by cloud computing, which lies at the foundations of contemporary and future IT as its most widespread enabler.     Abstract: Amicus curiae participation in international courts is steadily growing since the late 1990 despite lack of clarity on the concept's nature, function and utility in international dispute settlement. Does amicus curiae infuse international judicial proceedings with alternative views, including the public interest in a case, as often advocated by NGOs? Does it increase the legitimacy and transparency of international dispute settlement, or the coherence of international law? Or is it an unhelpful impostor that impedes negotiated solutions and derails the proceedings at the expense of the parties to advance its own agenda? By way of an empirical-comparative analysis of the laws and practices of the ICJ, the ITLOS, the ECtHR, the IACtHR, the IACtHPR, WTO panels and the Appellate Body, and investment arbitration the dissertation examines the status quo of amicus curiae before international courts and tribunals to determine if the current amicus curiae practice is of added value to international proceedings and international dispute settlement in general. The dissertation shows that there is no common concept of international amicus curiae, but that amicus curiae before the international courts examined share a few characteristics. A proposed functional systematization highlights overlaps and diverging uses of the concept before international courts and helps scholars and practitioners to assess the opportunities and limits of the concept. Analysis of the concept's current regulatory framework and its substantive effectiveness reveals a hesitation in particular by courts with a strong adversarial tradition to take into account the views of a non-party despite the positive experience with the concept in regional human rights courts. The dissertation concludes that neither the expectations nor the concerns attached to amicus curiae participation in international proceedings have materialized. It argues that the concept can contribute to improved decisions and decision-making in international dispute settlement if regulated and used properly

    Abstract: This study is the first to analyse the manifold interrelations between armed conflicts and the human and natural environments both historically and sociologically. While most research to date has dealt with this topic primarily with regard to environmental destruction caused by acts of war or armament in peacetime, this publication goes one step further by highlighting the historical changes to this complex interrelationship with concrete examples: from the Second World War in Europe and Asia via the classic proxy war in Vietnam to the current asymmetric wars in South Asia. At the same time, it focuses on systematic questions: How do environments influence armed conflicts? How do wars change environments? And how do complete ‘war landscapes’ (warscapes) emerge, in which war and militarisation permanently change the relations between people and their environment?

    Abstract: Für den äußerst sensiblen Bereich des Persönlichkeitsschutzes von Straftätern sind durch die kommunikativen Möglichkeiten des Internets neue Gefahren entstanden. Beispielsweise können täteridentifizierende Presseartikel, die bei ihrer Veröffentlichung rechtmäßig waren, noch Jahre später in Online-Archiven recherchiert und gelesen werden, obwohl eine erneute Veröffentlichung zu diesem Zeitpunkt meist ein rechtswidriger Eingriff in die Persönlichkeitsrechte der Täter wäre. Diese und andere Formen moderner „Prangerwirkung“ untersucht der Autor anhand einer exemplarischen Auswahl an Themen. Hierbei unterscheidet er zwischen Anprangerungen durch den Staat auf der einen und durch Publikationsorgane und Privatpersonen auf der anderen Seite. Dabei analysiert der Autor, wie gegenläufige Interessen im Licht neue Möglichkeiten und Gefahren im Internet in Einklang gebracht werden können und weist auf Anpassungsbedarf für die Rechtsprechung und Gesetzgebung hin
