    Abstract: The film shows the cleaning, tanning, dressing, and dyeing of an ibex skin by a man from Iskatul (Sanglic valley, Province of Badaxsan, North-East Afghanistan). The film commences with shots of the already lightly salted and dried skin being soaked and placed in the tanning solution and ends with a final softening of the tanned, dressed and dyed leather.

    Abstract: The film demonstrates molding on a rotating molding disk, from the dressing of the molding sand down to the completion of three molds for copper, pots and plow share. Subsequently follows the firing and charging of a small furnace, a pit-furnace operated with a tube blast, with charcoal, pig iron, castings and limestone, as well as the tapping and filling of the molds. The molds are then smashed and the finished castwork is cleaned.

The bowstring is stretched twice on the staff, a small stick is introduced at one edge to spread the two strings. A leather socket to receive the missile is placed in the middle of the double string, a pellet is placed in the socket and discharged.

    Abstract: The flood threatened bridge is partly torn down and built up again by mutual assistance of the men of the village. On one of the river banks the pole has to be newly assembled. Beams are used to build up the scaffolding. Stones and twigs are used to fill the frame-work. Owing to this the beams, overlapping each other with the tips, are able to over-bridge the river. The construction can then be connected by four beams to the corresponding ones on the other bank. After the beams have been secured by planks the bridge is ready for use.

    Abstract: On a vertical loom the threads of yak hair are stretched in a double-rowed warp, the dividing staffs are inserted, the heddle staff is twisted in and fixed. By an alternating use of various self-coloured weft threads a triped pattern is woven. Later the warp shiner is inserted, the warp is pulled and stretched again. When the weaving is finished, the loops of the warp are untied from the frame. The textile is cut up in the middle, resulting in two rugs.

    Abstract: Setting up a horizontal llom with two heddles. Stretching a double warp by winding figures of eight. Attaching the warp threads to the heddles and fixing the heddles by means of drawcords to both arms of a lever-like longitudinal rod. By alternate raising and lowering the shed is formed. Light-coloured, red and black woollen threads are inserted. The result is a weft-faced rib weave with horizontal stripes. The finished carpet is cut from the loom and the loom is removed.

    Abstract: Ein etwa 40jähriger Weber aus Iskatul lockert Yakhaare mit vibrierenden Schlägen zweier gegabelter Ruten, dreht sie zu einem lockeren Strang und wickelt diesen um einen Stab. Der Strang wird am nächsten Tag mit einer Kreuzspindel versponnen.
    Abstract: A weaver in Iskatul (Sanglic valley, Province of Badaxsan, North-East Afghanistan) separates yak hairs and spins them to a thick thread from which a gilam will later be woven.

    Abstract: The film was shot in the bazaar in Baharak (Province of Badaxsan, North-East Afghanistan). It shows the forgeing of a horseshoe and the relevant nails. The right forehoof of a horse is shoed. The forgeing process is completely recorded but not quite all of the shoeing.
