Abstract:
Der Film befaßt sich mit den Problemen der Land-Stadt-Migration in China. In Kunming, der Hauptstadt von Yünnan, lebt eine Familie von Matratzenmachern aus der Provinz Hunan. Trotz einer langen handwerklichen Tradition leben sie hier nun als marginalisierte Handwerker. Der Film zeigt ihren sozialen und ökonomischen Alltag, den Prozeß der Matratzenherstellung, aber auch die Geschichte eines kleinen Mädchens, das auf der Straße gefunden und von der Matratzenmacher-Familie aufgenommen wurde.
Abstract:
The film deals with the problem of migrant labour in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan. It portrays a family of cotton-mat makers from Hunan Province. Altough the craft of mat-making has had a long tradition in the family, they are now living as marginalized migrant workers. The film provides an insight into the social and economic everyday life of such workers, and it shows the process of cotton-mat making, but it also tells the story of a new-born baby girl who was found in the streets and has been adopted by this family to give her a home.
