    Abstract: The wood processing home industry has lost a great deal of value but in the Bavarian Forest it is still plays a certain part. The film shows how wood strips of two to three-finger width are split off from logs and how the strips are used for making a "Schwinge" (an oval basket). During the course of this work, the craftsman was interrupted only twice so that the settings reflect the natural continuity of the working process.

    Abstract: Ein Torfstich wird abgesteckt, Rasenstücke und Erdreich werden abgetragen. Der Torf wird mit dem Torfscheit gestochen, auf Schubkarren gelegt, zur Trocknungsstelle gefahren und abgeladen. Die in Doppelreihen locker aufeinandergelegten Torfstücke müssen nach einigen Wochen umgesetzt werden, bevor man sie in die Torfhütten einlagern kann.
    Abstract: A piece of ground is marked off, grass plots and earth are removed. The peat is cut with the peat spade, put on wheelbarrows, and transported to the drying-place. There the sods are stacked loosely in double rows, transposed a few weeks later, and finally stored in special huts.
