    Abstract: Aus einem weichen, wenig haltbaren Holzstamm wird ein am Bug verziertes Kanu geschlagen. Zuerst wird die Außen-, dann die Innenseite mit Axt und Dechsel bearbeitet. Anschließend wird das Boot mit Kokospalmblättern ausgebrannt, ins Wasser gebracht und dort mit roter Tonerde bemalt sowie mit Schnüren geschmückt.
    Abstract: A canoe is made from the trunk of tree. During the rough part of the work the Aibom man is assisted by a friend. The upper part of the trunk is split off in pieces by means of an axe, and the inner part of the trunk is hollowed out layer by layer; the worker is using an axe to treat the inner surface of the sidewalls, and an adze for the bottom and the upper rim. The edges marking the transition between sidewalls and bottom are rounded by an adze with a curved blade. Then the canoe is turned, and the outside is worked by using axe and adze. The decorations at the prow and the upper rim are carved with adze, knife, a large neel used a chisel, and a wooden beater. After finishing the inner and outer surface the canoe is fired by dried coconut leaves. The boat is then brought into the water, painted with red clay and decorated with fibres.

    Abstract: Eine Frau holt drei Tonarten, vermischt sie und bereitet daraus in Treibtechnik drei Gefäße, die nach dem Trocknen von ihr verschiedene Ornamente bzw. von ihrem Ehemann ein menschengestaltiges Gesicht erhalten. Anschließend werden die Gefäße im Brennhaufen gebrannt.
    Abstract: The female potter is digging three different kinds of clay and is mixing and kneading them together with some water. Always some pots are made at the same time; the film shows the production of a frying pan, a fire bowl, and a sago jar. The decoration of the sago jar is partly done by the husband of the potter. In a fire made from dried palmleaves and some firewood the pots are shortly fired.

    Abstract: Frauen aus der Umgebung kommen mit Kanus nach Aibom, um hier auf dem Marktplatz ihr Sago gegen Töpfe einzutauschen. Die beiden Parteien stehen zuerst in zwei langen Reihen einander gegenüber, dann gehen die Besucher mit ihren Sagopaketen zu den Töpferinnen und beginnen mit dem Tauschhandel.
    Abstract: Aibom has extensive trade connections as a pottery village. At high water times women come from other villages in canoes to Aibom to exchange sago for pots. After the exchange partners have formed two rows facing one another - one row with pots, the other with packets of sago - the women with the sago go to those with the pots and offer it for exchange, usually silently. The visitors then return to their villages loaden with pots.
