    Abstract: The scientific monograph ('Palaeofloods in karstic Ljubljanica River Catchment') presents a research on palaeofloods in the main water confluence in the Ljubljanica River Catchment, namely the area between the Pivka Basin, Cerknica Karst Polje, and Planina Karst Polje. Several geomorphological forms genetically related to floods have been identified, e.g. floodplains, river terraces, corrosion notches on cave walls, as well as laminated fine-grained sediments. Since they were found at higher altitudes than the present floods reach, they were considered as palaeoflood features. Morphometric analysis of the studied geomorphological forms was used to determine the volume of palaeofloods and their altitudinal range. The hydrometric characteristics of the palaeofloods where calculated by computer modelling. Petrological analyses of fine-grained sediments from the surface and caves were used to determine the origin of sediments and their settling velocities, hence to prove their flood origin. Furthermore, morpho-chronological analyses with radiometric methods 14C and U-Th on flowstones interlaying with flood sediments where carried out. The results show that the volume and altitude of palaeofloods throughout the study area fairly exceeded the highest known recent floods
    Abstract: Paleopoplave v porečju kraške Ljubljanice so bile preučevane na območju najpomembnejšega sotočja vod, med Pivško kotlino ter Cerkniškim in Planinskim kraškim poljem. Poplavne oblike se na tem območju pojavljajo tudi na bistveno višjih nadmorskih višinah kot jih dosežejo najvišje poplave v današnjih hidroloških razmerah. Te oblike, ki so danes nad hidrološko aktivnim nivojem, so obravnavane kot sledi paleopoplav. Z več metodami je bil ugotovljen prostorski obseg ter dinamika sedimentacije gradiva ob paleopoplavah. Časovna umestitev paleopoplav je temeljila na datacijah sige z radiometričnima metodama 14C in U-Th. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da je bila jakost poplav v preteklosti bistveno večja, a je bila dinamika pojavljanja paleopoplav podobna današnjim. Tako kot ob današnjih poplavah v porečju Ljubljanice se je tudi ob paleopoplavah iz suspenzije odlagalo drobnozrnato gradivo. Hidrološki razvoj porečja se je skladno z dinamiko geomorfnih procesov spreminjal skozi več faz paleookoljskih sprememb v kvartarju

    Abstract: Shaping the Geographical Imagination of Slovenian Landscapes in EducationThis volume focuses on Slovenian students' geographical imaginations of Slovenian landscapes and the impact of curricula, syllabuses for selected subjects, and textbooks for them. It proceeds from the premise that photographs play an important role in shaping and maintaining individual and collective conceptions of landscapes. The introduction builds a theoretical framew`rk based on the concepts of landscape, geographical imaginations, and visuality. This is followed by a chapter presenting results of an analysis of twenty-five syllabuses for seventeen primary- and secondary-school subjects referring to shaping landscape imaginations. The third chapter brings results of an analysis of 949 photogrῡphs from fifty primary- and secondary-school textbooks. The fourth chapter presents the results of the analysis of questionnaires completed by 722 students and twenty-seven teachers from seventeen Slovenian primary schools and eight secondary schools.     Abstract: Rakov Škocjan is a basin in a small karst plain comprising the Rak Valley and the small basin Podbojev Laz. Bedrock terraces in the basin slopes indicate flattening of the basin floor at the water table level at higher elevations and progressive basin development and transformation with surface water flow. Detailed studies of the surface and subsurface karst features in Rakov Škocjan made it possible to describe the basin's evolution and its development in previous genetic stages. The study ('Geomorphological Characteristics of Rakov Škocjan') based on detailed morphographic mapping, collection of morphometric data, speleological analyses, and granulometric analyses of loamy sediments. A synthesis of the findings shows that the basin's genesis and development was much more complex than described in earlier literature. The basin was formed as a surface karst feature through several development stages in which the locations of springs and ponors had changed. Morphogenetic characteristics resulted in an exceptional variety of karst phenomena in a small area, although the basic water course in the broader regional sense did not significantly change
    Abstract: Kotlina Rakov Škocjan je poglobitev v manjši kraški uravnavi, sestavljena iz doline Raka in kotanje Podbojev laz. V pobočjih kotline so izoblikovane živoskalne uravnave, ki kažejo na uravnavanje dna kotline na višjih nadmorskih višinah, postopen razvoj in preoblikovanje s površinsko tekočo vodo. Podrobno so bile preučene površinske in podzemne kraške oblike, ki nakazujejo razvoj kotline v preteklih razvojnih fazah. Preučevanje je temeljilo na podrobnem morfografskem kartiranju območja, zajemu morfometričnih podatkov preučevanih oblik, speleoloških analizah jam in laboratorijskih analizah ilovnatega sedimenta. Sinteza nakazuje, da sta nastanek in razvoj kotline kompleksnejša, kot je bilo doslej predstavljeno v literaturi. Kotlina se je namreč kot površinska kraška oblika oblikovala v več fazah, v katerih so se lokacije izvirov in ponorov spreminjale. To je povzročilo izredno pestrost kraških pojavov na majhnem območju
