Abstract: The research community's interest in information studies that address visual records in their most diverse information resources is present. In this book, the discussion on the dimension of images in the context of photographs, cinematographic works and other audiovisual documents was chosen through the bias of memory and also with regard to the preservation of these documents. Humanity's historical and cultural trajectory, linked to visual records, boosted the development of techniques and technologies that implied, in one way or another, theories and practices related to the organization of these documents, through their analysis and interpretation. The latter allowed their technical treatment, packaging, access and use in the contexts of memory-information units, whether physical or digital spaces, in addition, of course, to the memory-information environments that are configured on the internet and social networks. The chapters in this book show the choice of approaches to the paths taken by its authors, whose authorial distinction was directed or pervaded in the approaches regarding the complexity of photographic and audiovisual collections in custodial institutions and their organization, memory as a report and cognitive perspective and audiovisual preservation . In order to allocate the subjects addressed, the work is divided into three blocks: Audiovisual, Information and Memory (AIM), Cinema, Information and Memory (CIM) and Photography, Information and Memory (FIM). Such a division is purely a “manic” exercise of putting into pigeonholes everything that is considered classifiable, cataloguable. As a whole, we are all members of the same party of the image

Abstract: The world of presences is simulated, presented and represented in the digital medium. In the context of digital-virtual communication, and from the recent transformations in their supports, the multimodal collections of information pass to a state in which the access of informational subjects to information can be facilitated and expanded. In such a universe, the information and data represented need conceptual and technical treatments that respect the nature and particularities of the media and the languages that pass through them. In addition, being processed in a fragile medium such as digital, encoded information for electronic media also requires procedures and care aimed at its integral preservation. In Information Science, the set of continuous and iterative procedures intended to satisfy the demands for attention to optimize access and preservation is called Digital Curation: a complex of processes that go from initial design and conceptualization to metadata designation. , the evaluation of decisions to preserve or discard, the transformation, access, exchange and re-evaluation of digital objects. In gender-related issues, the need for Digital Curation of information presented in electronic media becomes urgent, given the dramatic facts that worry about the lack of information, or misinformation, in the multiple territories covered by the concept. In them, the information must be processed with the sociocultural purpose of creating strategies and instruments to overcome the innumerable challenges and injustices present

When it comes to gender issues, conditions are more acute as the need for Digital Curation becomes more pressing when we are faced with the dramatic events concerning its multiple territories. In them, information must be processed with the socio-cultural purpose of creating strategies and instruments to overcome numerous challenges and current injustices. The book Digital Curation and Gender in Information Science: access and preservation addresses, through the combined vision of authors from the national and international panorama, issues concerning some gender issues in the perspective of improvements provided by Digital Curation actions and the particulatiries of preservtion and acces that apply.
