There are two specific chapters on the safety standards established under the aegis of the IAEA for research reactors and on serious accidents, notably those involving criticality and reactivity, in research reactors. Ce livre a pour ambition d'apporter aux citoyens une information complète, mais aussi à la portée de tous, sur l'évolution en France, en Europe et dans le monde. Il dresse un panorama de l'énergie, productions et consommations, de son impact sur le dérèglement climatique, mais également sur la biosphère, la santé, l'économie et la société. Plus particulièrement, en ce qui concerne la France, les objectifs de la Loi relative à la transition énergétique pour une croissance verte (LTECV) sont rappelés et examinés. Les premiers résultats se révèlent souvent décevants. Pour sortir de cet échec des éléments de réflexion sont proposés, pour une politique de l'énergie efficace basée sur des priorités claires et des échéances cohérentes. Cette politique doit tenir compte de la situation particulière de la France, qui bénéficie aujourd'hui d'une électricité n'émettant que très peu de gaz carbonique, le principal gaz à effet de serre. Or la politique nationale a donné depuis une dizaine d'année priorité à une réduction du nucléaire, décarboné, plutôt qu'à la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre. La France devrait être capable de respecter ses engagements, à condition de réorienter la LTECV avec un objectif clair de réduction des émissions de GES, au meilleur coût et en préservant le lien social qui nous unis dans de nombreux domaines grâce aux infrastructures communes bâties par le génération précédentes (électricité, gaz, eau, réseaux de transports, ...)

Puis, il présente successivement les différents types de lipides (acides gras saturés, mono-insaturés, poly-insaturés), consacre un chapitre aux acides gras trans (l'occasion là encore de souligner les erreurs de la simplification qui a jeté l'opprobre sur tous les trans), un autre au cholestérol, le suivant aux mécanismes de régulation. Puis, le pédiatre propose une mise en application pratique à travers le suivi de l'incroyable croissance du fœtus puis de l'enfant, soutenue en grande partie par les lipides dans leur immense complexité d'action. Enfin, il dénonce 50 ans d'excès et de dérives médiatiques qui ont impacté le monde des lipides... et la santé des citoyens. Autant de chapitres dans lesquels le lecteur peut se plonger intégralement pour découvrir par exemple que les acides gras polyinsaturés sont aussi les précurseurs de nombreux médiateurs de l'inflammation, et participent à ce titre parfois à l'entretien parfois à l'extinction du « feu» des multiples pathologies inflammatoires (obésité, diabète, arthrite, etc.)... et aux voies de recherche pour enrayer ces maladies.
