The downloading of universities from national to regional government means that funding is increasingly even regional or local. Policy makers, firms and students, who are increasingly funding universities, are not interested in the development of academic knowledge: they demand teaching, research and services that are useful for local economic development and employability. As a consequence there is a divergence between the aspirations of universities and their stakeholders' needs. Establishing beneficial relations between universities and their stakeholders is vital for the survival of European districts and clusters of SMEs. The research highlights how critical the dilemma is and suggests a theoretical framework for resolving it, through the introduction of a new model of governance for universities and a new concept of knowledge

    Abstract: Soviet society has always been characterised by a marked institutional censorship which, in the face of the power of the written word, has set in motion a series of highly repressive institutions. However, censorship does not necessarily exert its power through forms of coercion; there are also approaches that are implemented through a complex network of cultural institutions that can "produce" society, expunging concepts and attitudes that are a threat to the system and at the same time masterminding a series of organisms designed to forge orthodox behaviour and mindframes, to the extent that the role of the external censor often becomes almost superfluous, being replaced by the "censor of the soul". This book seeks to bring to the fore this second type of censorship, albeit without neglecting the complex repressive machinery set in motion by Soviet power.     Abstract: The aims of this thesis were to test the adsorption efficiency of cyanobacterial biomasses of polysaccharide producing strains and to realize a pilot plant for galvanic waste treatment based on biosorption. First of all the different strains were tested at laboratory scale with solutions containing one or more metals, in order to gradually approach the reality of galvanic industries, where several metals at different concentrations are present at the same time in the wastes. To realize the pilot plant we tried to combine the protocols established during laboratory experiments with the necessities of the final user, the industry, by designing and realizing three prototypes. It was moreover evaluated the possibility to recover the adsorbed metal in a form easy and convenient for recycling

    Abstract: Girolamo Borsieri (Como 1588-1629), a versatile intellectual of ranging interests, was greatly appreciated by his contemporaries for the breadth of his literary, artistic and historical knowledge and for his witty and laconic style. Among his admirers were Federico Borromeo and Giovan Battista Marino. In the twentieth century his intellectual standing was acknowledged in works of art history criticism, which were followed by other contributions of literary, linguistic and musicological interest. Despite this, even now many of his works appear to have been somewhat neglected. Starting from the writer's own reflections and the suggestions offered by the critics, the present work proposes a key to the reading of Borsieri as a man, an intellectual and a theorist. It is a monograph on Girolamo Borsieri, constructed largely upon first-hand manuscript and autograph materials that make it possible to sketch his biographical profile and the why and how of his participation in the cultural and religious renewal of Lombard society in the early decades of the seventeenth century. Borsieri's writings are presented, and their critical reception traced. His sacred madrigals - Il Salterio Affetti Spirituali - are also published here for the first time, from the autograph

In this work the author shows that proteins can display enzymatic activity even in the absence of a compact three-dimensional structure, with important implications for the study of protein enzymes. Furthermore, the author investigates the formation of protein aggregates similar to those observed in patients of amyloid-related diseases
