    Abstract: Der Sammelband "Islam und Staat in den Ländern Südostasiens" ist aus der gleichnamigen Tagung an der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt im Juni 2008 hervorgegangen und wurde um weitere Studien zum Thema ergänzt. Die elf Beiträge untersuchen das oft komplexe Verhältnis zwischen staatlichen Instanzen und Strukturen und den muslimischen gesellschaftlichen Akteuren in verschiedenen südostasiatischen Staaten. Durch die breite Streuung der Untersuchungen - sowohl regional (Indonesien, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapur, Thailand und Birma) als auch auch inhaltlich (Studien auf der Makro- und Mikroebene) - gewährt der von Fritz Schulze und Holger Warnk herausgegebene Band Einblicke in das komplexe Verhältnis von Staat, Gesellschaft und islamischer Religion im kontemporären Südostasien und gibt Anregungen für weitere Forschungen auf diesem Gebiet.
