Abstract:
Diese Dissertation befasst sich mit der sozialen Integration burkinischer Migranten, die im Nachbarland Côte d’Ivoire gelebt und gearbeitet hatten, 2002 im Zuge des Bürgerkrieges von dort vertrieben wurden und infolgedessen nach Burkina Faso zurückgekehrt sind. Im offiziellen Diskurs der burkinischen Regierung werden diese Vertriebenen als „rapatriés“ (Repatriierte) bezeichnet. Mittels eines historischen Rückblicks auf Migration in Westafrika, einem Dorfzensus sowie einer transnationalen Analyse gegenwärtiger Prozesse der Interaktion der Vertriebenen mit der lokalen Bevölkerung sowie mit Vertretern der öffentlichen Verwaltung wird die Situation in der Kleinstadt Batié, einem Ort von rund 4.000 Einwohnern im Südwesten Burkina Fasos, untersucht. Die sich aktuell bildenden Spannungen in der bisher bemerkenswert friedlichen multiethnischen und multireligiösen Gesellschaft bilden das Zentrum der Untersuchung.
Abstract:
This dissertation deals with the social integration of Burkinabe migrants who had lived in neighbouring Côte d’Ivoire and were displaced from there in 2002 due to the Ivorian civil war. Offical disourse in Burkina Faso calls them „rapatriés“(the repatriated). The text offers a historical review of migration in West Africa as well as the results of a village survey and transnational analysis of current processes of interaction between the displaced, the local population and representatives of the public administration in the small town of Batié. The town in southwestern Burkina Faso has approximately 4.000 inhabitants and used to be a remarkably peaceful multiethnic and multireligious society. In recent years, however, tensions have risin which are at the core of this research.
