    Abstract: "Indianer" ist ein beliebtes Thema im Sachunterricht; dabei werden aber allzu oft nur aus Western- und Karl-May-Filmen bekannte Stereotype und Vorurteile wiederholt und verstärkt, kritisiert Kaiser (zuletzt ID-B 24/12). Mit ihren Unterrichtsmaterialien zeigt die Grundschul-Didaktikerin, wie Grundschülern ein differenziertes Indianerbild vermittelt werden kann, das nicht den gängigen Stereotypen entspricht. Ein hilfreicher Materialienband für einen anspruchsvollen Unterricht in den Klassen 1 bis 6. (2 S) (LK/DU: Heckmann)
    Abstract: Grundschulkinder lieben das Thema "Indianer". Deshalb gibt es auch allerhand Unterrichtsmaterial, aber meist zum Bild der über die Steppe reitenden Häuptlinge. Doch Kinder lernen dabei nichts Neues, sondern wiederholen nur ihre aus Westernfilmen und Karl-May-Filmen gewonnenen stereotypen Bilder. Das Thema hat aber das Potential, über den eigenen Tellerrand hinauszublicken und wirklich andere Kulturen kennen zu lernen - so wie es im Perspektivrahmen für den Sachunterricht bei den Kompetenzen unter der sozial- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Perspektive gefordert wird. Um wirklich neue Kompetenzen bei den Kindern aufzubauen und nicht bloss Stereotype zu verstärken, wird hier das Thema "Indianer" an einer Wassernomadenkultur aufgezogen, die gerade nicht den gängigen Stereotypen entspricht. Es geht um die Kultur der Yahgan, die im Süden Feuerlands wohnten. Mittlerweile sind nur noch wenige Familien zu finden. Aber es gibt noch Mädchen und Jungen, die für Grundschulkinder Identifikationsmöglichkeiten bieten, um zu erfahren, dass diese Kinder gleichzeitig auch Kinder wie Ich und Du" sind
