Abstract: The commercial expansion of Venice intersected with the rapid formation of the Mongol Empire, which, starting from the 1240s, extended from China to the gates of Europe. The constitution of a homogeneous and vast political entity integrated regional economies and facilitated communications. In Tana, the easternmost Venetian settlement at the mouth of the Don River, the Western urban mercantile class met the locals in a remote geographical area. This paper analyzes the relationships between Venetians and Westerners in general on the one side, and the local population on the other in the 14th century

Abstract: This volume aims at investigating the reasons why, in Turkey, individual memory and construction of subjectivity (both intended in the broad sense) go beyond the boundaries of the individual in order to incorporate matters concerning national identity. The "writings on the self", be them confessions, memoirs, autobiographical or biographical novels, have been chosen as tools for the comprehension of the construction mechanisms of individual and collective memory. The issues related to the building of the modern Turkish nation, with its traumatic historical events and the approaches to the theme of memory by those who were excluded from the dominant and hegemonic narrative, constitute the core themes around which the authors' reflection develops

Abstract: A gain-of-function mutation in Janus kinase 2 (JAK2V617F) is at the basis of the majority of chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). Enhanced activation of other downstream pathways including the PI3K/mTOR pathway has been documented as well. In this study we evaluated the effects of JAK1/2 inhibitors, alone and in combination with mTOR, with a dual mTOR/PI3K inhibitor and with a pan PI3K inhibitor in in-vitro and in-vivo MPN models. Our findings of strong synergy between the JAK2 inhibitors and mTOR/PI3K inhibitor suggested that we might be able to administer these drugs at lower concentrations than when the drugs are used individually. This provides a framework for combination trials using compounds in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms

Abstract: This paper discusses the morphological means used to express verbal aspect in Resian. A marked difference can be observed between the native Slavic verbal lexicon, which mainly shows prefixation, thereby creating perfective forms, and that of Romance origin, where prefixation is almost completely absent and suffixation abounds, thereby creating imperfective forms

Abstract: This thesis reports the results of studies conducted at LAboratory for Molecular Magnetism (LA.M.M.) of the University of Firenze concerning the synthesis and characterization of rare-earth free nanostructured materials for permanent magnet applications. Ferrite-based magnetic materials doped with transition metal ions are studied with particular attention to the correlation between their magnetic properties and nanostructures. Firstly, the magnetic behaviour of single-phase ferrites nanocrystals with enhanced anisotropy was analysed, in order to under stand the correlation between the final properties and particle size, shape, crystallinity, composition, etc. Then, hybrid bi magnetic core|shell nanoparticles were prepared focusing on the aftermath and required conditions of exchange-coupling establishment between the two moieties

Abstract: In the activity of the librarian, the technical dimension, essential for working with professionalism, cannot ignore or be separated from commitment, attention to civil rights and the way in which they are lived and practiced within the community to which they belong. Ensuring access to information cannot be limited to 'our' library: it must be a responsibility that concerns the territory where we live and operate, looking to our colleagues who may find themselves in a difficult situation and especially to the people who have difficulties in exercising their rights. The hope is that the transmission of registered knowledge will contribute more and more to the freedom, rights and well-being of all. Will it still take time to understand that investing in libraries means investing in democracy, economic development and the quality of life? As always, the reference framework for understanding and interpreting library problems is that of the comparison with international library traditions, starting from the European continent, as the profession of the librarian today has a theoretical framework and an operational dimension of global reach

Abstract: The work 'Intorno a Boccaccio/Boccaccio e dintorni 2016' is the outcome of the international seminar held in Certaldo on September 16, 2017, promoted by the ENGB National Association (Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio) and now in its third edition. The seminar, which is now held on an annual basis, has the main purpose of giving visibility to young scholars, allowing them to present new and ongoing researches. Alongside philological and critical contributions related to Decameron and its Fortleben, this work is characterized by the attention it pays to other works by Boccaccio (Filostrato, Rime, De mulieribus claris, Epistole, Trattatello), examined under the aspect of textual tradition, rhetorical figures and lexicon

Abstract: The volume presents the thesis of the social roots of the European crisis, supported by an empirical analysis that highlights the extent to which the inequality between EU citizens, which grew with the 2008 recession, determines the ideas of Europe circulating among Europeans, helping to influence their sense of belonging. The work develops an original theoretical approach that is experimented in the field through a study that shows, on the one hand, the boundless narrative heritage and the different identity forms that characterize Europe; on the other, the main factors that influence them: the experiences, the socio-economic and cultural characteristics of the individual and the context, the use of the media and the role played by the institutions on the territory

Abstract: This book provides a set of lectures for an intermediate course in Public economics devoted to four topics, in many elements related each other. The first one is the Economics of institutions and political economy, as a general framework to analyze the public intervention in modern economies. The second one is the Economics of Law, which is at the basis of the working of the exchange economy. The third one is the Economics of public services enterprises ownership and the fourth one is the Economics of the organization of public administration in providing public services, with particular reference to the National health care systems and to the local public municipalities. As the standard textbooks in the field usually do not treat within unitary and comprehensive terms these issues, the book would provide an attempt in this direction

Abstract: This paper proposes a revision of Russian modernism's politically-motivated chronology and geography through the integration of two academic subfields - modernist and exilic studies. Such an integrative approach allows us better to position Russian modernist culture vis-à-vis its western counterparts, returning our research subject to its original context in the larger, international modernist field. The paper will subsequently offer a tentative sketch of the aesthetic and philosophical premises of late Russian modernism against the backdrop of western modernist practices in the 1930s

Abstract: We have entered the digital era: increasingly powerful computational devices are implemented everywhere and generate increasing flows of information. The digitalization of processes and products implies the combination of different knowledge sources: structured, unstructured, textual, visual and acoustic. Profound and extensive changes emerge: from the design of a good or service to their distribution on the markets and the interactions with consumers. The relationships between the physical and virtual world will be the source of continuous innovations thanks to the pervasiveness of artificial agents with abilities close to the human ones: learning, adaptability, forecasting skills. It is the 'physical-digital universe', which requires new knowledge tools and innovative decision-making strategies

Abstract: The exhibition Astronomia e Fisica a Firenze ("Astronomy and Physics in Florence") illustrates the evolution of the two disciplines from the eighteenth century until the early decades of the twentieth century. The place in the city which witnessed and welcomed this process and the development of all sciences was the Imperial and Royal Museum of Physics and Natural History, where the exhibition is held. During the period of time examined, all aspects of the investigation of nature were equally pertinent to a single scholar, but towards the beginning of the twentieth century some guidelines underwent a profound transformation and the prevailing taxonomic and phenomenological approach took over, especially for disciplines like Astronomy and Physics. This specialised investigation ended up differentiating the various fields of research. Major protagonist of this phase was the development of spectroscopic analysis. The exhibition, open from December 2016 to March 2017, is organised by the University of Florence (National History Museum; Department of Physics and Astronomy) and the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory, in collaboration with the Florence Section of the INFN, the Museo Galileo, the Historical Archive of the Municipality of Florence, the National Institute of Optics of CNR and the University Science Library

Abstract: Soon after greeting the February revolution, Klyuev turns to an aesthetic of violence and disruption. In the poetic cycle Medny Kit (1918), the utopia of "peasant paradise" stems from the apocalyptic destruction of old Russia. While the poet contemplates the cyclicity of Russian history, the lyrical subject comes transfigured out of the "red" baptism, identifying himself simultaneously to Rasputin and Avvakum. As the cycle captures the brutal melody of the times, the lyric genre is pushed to its limit - polyphony, which announces the transition to narrative and epic poetry

Abstract: Prominent historian of Russian literature, one of the best pushkinists of his time, Ju. Oksman was sent to a camp in Kolyma in 1936. Upon his release in 1947, he found a position at Saratov University, then he moved to the Institute of World Literature a decade later. Because of his anti-stalinism, he was fired from his academic positions in 1964 and until the perestroika it was forbidden to write about him in USSR. His letters to Ludwig Domherr or Gleb Struve provide a rich material of the scholar's determination to revive the dialogue with the West and a testimony of his courageous position

Abstract: What is the common aspect linking the studies of this volume, which take into account very different authors such as Conte, Palazzeschi, Zanzotto, Caproni, Rosselli, Biagini, some crespuscolar poets, Leopardi, Annovi, Giuliani, and even some twentieth-century translations of R.M. Rilke? They share the belief that the poetic word - which etymologically has "creative" powers - generates cognitive perspectives altering our perception of the world. Reading poetry does not have an effect confined to the page and to the moment, but affects our relationship with reality, changes it and enriches it in an often unsuspected and surprising way. In this collection, the authors try to bring out a sort of epistemology of poetry, in order to clarify how it can contribute to illuminating our experience of the world and of ourselves. The reader is then invited to look beyond the boundaries traditionally established by the various disciplines, in the direction of mutual contamination and openness to innovative and unprecedented suggestions

Abstract: The 2017 SIS Conference aims to highlight the crucial role of the Statistics in Data Science. In this new domain of 'meaning' extracted from the data, the increasing amount of produced and available data in databases, nowadays, has brought new challenges. That involves different fields of statistics, machine learning, information and computer science, optimization, pattern recognition. These afford together a considerable contribute in the analysis of 'Big data', open data, relational and complex data, structured and no-structured. The interest is to collect the contributes which provide from the different domains of Statistics, in the high dimensional data quality validation, sampling extraction, dimensional reduction, pattern selection, data modelling, testing hypotheses and confirming conclusions drawn from the data

Abstract: Management consulting firms are often discussed as being the firms whose core product is knowledge itself. However, despite the fact that consulting firms are generally aware of the value of knowledge for their own organizations and for their clients, the empirical evidence shows that even today the (economic and, above all, cognitive) value-creation potential related to the transition from consulting approaches geared to the transfer of "best practices" (consultant as expert) to consulting approaches geared to the cooperative creation of new knowledge and managerial capabilities (consultant as a facilitator of new managerial knowledge and capabilities creation processes) is rarely consciously perceived and, consequently, is not adequately planned for and exploited. This book interprets management consulting from a knowledge perspective, and proposes a general conceptual framework for investigating and interpreting that potential

Abstract: A poet, critic and translator, Giovanni Raboni is one of the most important figures in the literary panorama of the second half of the 20th Century. This volume sheds light on his twofold journey in the chaotic magma of the 50s and 60s: on the one hand the encounters and discoveries of a passionate and keen critic and reader, on the other the first steps of a young poet in search of his own voice . Young Raboni's path arises from a courageous confrontation with the urgencies of his time, and is nourished by a profound dialogue with "poetry in flesh and blood", "poetry that is made". A path in which the pen of the "poetry reader" often accompanies, with his mild but severe firmness, the poet's free and autonomous hand

Abstract: A long eighteenth century - on the footsteps of the erudite tradition and of the Muratori's publishing method - and a very short nineteenth century, enclosed between the first post-unification decade and the threshold of the Great War, when the advent of a new and professionalised generation of scholars (Bonelli, Vittani, Torelli, Manaresi) would also impose a radical change in Lombardy in the field of palaeographic-diplomatic research. These are the coordinates (of a conceptual rather than a chronological nature) of the book, which for the first time analyses a significant period of medieval history under a historiographic perspective and retraces the careers, projects, the initiatives of the individuals and institutions that have animated that epoch. The editors and the editions of medieval documents coming from Lombardy are at the heart of the publication, although wider perspectives and many protagonists whose fame goes beyond the borders of regional culture revolve around them. The process of defining a modern diplomatic philology in the editions of Lombard sources is followed, marking its salient stages and turning points. However, in the background stand out the broader (as well as stronger and ideologically connoted) themes of Medieval studies before and after the Unification of Italy. These are the issue of the Longobards, the myth of the Commune civilisation in the Risorgimento culture, the identity of the Visconti-Sforza state. Analysing the editors and the editions of medieval documents in Lombardy between the nineteenth and twentieth century means shedding a significant light on the very dynamics of the organisation of regional historical research. Such analysis moves within a lively debate offering scientific and cultural implications between the hegemonic Milanese centre and the sometimes riotous municipalisms of the many suburbs

Abstract: What is desire? What are the powers of reason? What drives men to go beyond nature? Where to look for the foundations and fundamental forms of coexistence? Following the thread of these questions, the study aims to set up a theoretical comparison between Hegel and Hobbes, in the belief that an all-out dialogue between the two philosophers can contribute to a better understanding of their respective systems. The examination of the many affinities of problematic approach, as well as of the radical divergences of the solutions, allows the profile of a self-critical modernity to emerge, sensitive to the assumptions of the project of human self-affirmation through reason and artifice

Abstract: The lucky discovery in Athens of the letters of Luzi, Traverso and Macrí to Margherita Dalmati allowed to complete the epistolary of the Greek poet and harpsichordist preserved in the archives of Florence and Urbino. The 341 pieces available thanks to Sara Moran's research allow us to trace her contacts with the great protagonists of post-war literary Florence, also showing their links with the Roman and Milanese environment. Throughout the "thaw" years, the letters offer the reconstruction of Dalmati' militancy in Cyprus' struggle for independence, of her friendship with Cristina Campo, of the translations into neo-Greek of Luzi's poetry. The 60s and 70s are marked by her promotion of Italian poetry in Greece, and of Greek poetry in Italy, through collaboration with magazines and the translation for Einaudi, together with Nelo Risi, of Kavafi's poems. The letters - tender, funny, ironic and affectionate - of the four voices involved in the book illuminate important moments of the culture of the second half of the 20th Century as well as of the protagonists' life, while among and around all of them an enchanting woman with her musical voice can be admired, whose name was little known until now

Abstract: The volume is the result of the research project Claustra. Atlas of female spirituality. The book deals with the analysis of the religious landscape marked by the communities of the Poor Clares and Dominicans nuns. The investigation of the territorial structure of the various kingdoms takes place through five paths: knowledge of poorly studied areas in female monastic topography; understanding of foundational dynamics and the role of communities of religious mulieres; the dynamics of the urban layout and the processes of communication and action that created the monastic landscape; the importance of patronage and female sponsorship in foundational models and cultural promotion; the analysis of devotional practices and the material culture of communities in a functional, spatial and performative context.

Abstract: War is an event, theme, topos that induces fiction more than any other - stimulating, one might say, superego-like instances of historical fidelity - to press on its own boundaries, inhibit the space of the invention and merge with non-fictional forms of writing (memorial, diary, reportage ...). But in what way and to what extent its literary (as well as theatrical, cinematographical, comic book...) representation has changed - in terms of tone and strategies, in the degree of deformation of the known and shared reality - in the space of a Century that has seen the transformation of war strategies, media coverage and consequently the collective imagination linked to conflicts? The volume, conceived and edited by Nicola Turi, while tracing the individual path of known and lesser-known authors, in relation to the main theme of the book, both Italian and not (from Leopardi to Zanzotto, from Gadda to Calvino, from Salsa to Dessí, from Luzi and Fenoglio to Leavitt, Eisner and Celestini), also stimulates and elaborates a profound reflection on the bewilderment and natural attraction of the artistic gesture (from time to time in the name of fierce irony, desperate incredulity, the elegiac testimony) for evil, pain, the martial distortion of the human, social and political context

Abstract: One of the most widely debated topics in Slavic linguistics has always been verbal aspect, which takes different forms because of the various grammaticalization paths which led to its emergence. In the formation of the category of aspect in Slavic languages, a key role was played by the morphological mechanism of prefixation (a.k.a. preverbation), whereby the prefixes (which originally performed the function of markers of adverbial meanings) came to act as markers of boundedness. This volume contains thirteen articles on the mechanism of prefixation, written by leading international scholars in the field of verbal aspect. Ancient and modern Slavic varieties, as well as non-Slavic and even non-Indo-European languages, are represented, making the volume an original and significant contribution to Slavic as well as typological linguistics

Abstract: The International Workshop on Models and Analysis of Vocal Emissions for Biomedical Applications (MAVEBA) came into being in 1999 from the particularly felt need of sharing know-how, objectives and results between areas that until then seemed quite distinct such as bioengineering, medicine and singing. MAVEBA deals with all aspects concerning the study of the human voice with applications ranging from the neonate to the adult and elderly. Over the years the initial issues have grown and spread also in other aspects of research such as occupational voice disorders, neurology, rehabilitation, image and video analysis. MAVEBA takes place every two years always in Firenze, Italy

Abstract: This article focuses on Tolstoy's attitude towards the European writers he reads. From what he says about them (in his Diary, notes, letters, prefaces), we can characterize his attitude towards the Western cultural tradition in terms of independence and appropriation, and understand what conception of literature and philosophy emerges from his criteria of appreciation. It seems that Tolstoy places himself as a judge and as a mediator, through whom western writers must arrive to Russian readers, and that sincerity appears to be the most significant criterium in his conception

Abstract: Ivan Aksenov is one of the most neglected figures of early 20th Century Russian literature. The few scholars who have noticed his great originality interpret his verses above all as an application of the principles of Cubist painting in poetry, in the light of the experiences of Mayakovsky &Co.; these investigations denote a poor knowledge of the author, who did not fail to declare the incompatibility between the two artistic media. This book is therefore the first systematic study of Aksenov's poetry, starting from a reflection on the philological state of the texts, to move on to the reconstruction of his aesthetic thought and to integral analyzes of poetic compositions. An unprecedented theory of art emerges from this - which develops ideas of Tolstoy, Vjaceslav Ivanov and Freud - and a production in verses characterized by daring metric innovations and a flow-of-consciousness poetics of the with a subtly humorous urbanism that recalls authors such as Apollinaire and Cendrars. It is thus intended to highlight the peculiarity of Aksenov, the only Russian poet from the Futurist area to have participated, even for a few months, in the cultural life of Paris in the 1910s and an advocate at home of themes and stylistic elements partly related to the French esprit nouveau

Abstract: Dissemination of scientific results is an important and necessary component of research activity. Nowadays research asks to be widely diffused and shared in a larger community in the effort to demonstrate its innovation and originality, so to enlarge network and obtain funds to keep working. In this context, PhD students, as part of scientific community and young researchers in training, have to understand the rule of publications to define the best strategy for the dissemination of their research. The present book, through the experiences of national and international PhD candidates, PhDs and Professors, is a contribute in the current opened debate on the most effective strategies and related tools to design specific actions, to highlight and improve the peculiar qualities and disciplines of each research

Abstract: The service covered by an obligation corresponds, in the definition offered by the law (art. 1174 of the Italian civil code), to an interest of the creditor. What happens if this interest, in the context of a contractual relationship, can no longer be satisfied due to unforeseen causes not attributable to the parties? The jurisprudence affirms that when an interest is objectively functional and necessary for the realization of the contractual program, its infringement can lead to the cancellation of the legal bond. However, what are the exact legal consequences of such cancellation, and what are its forms? This is the essential content of this work, aimed at investigating the foundation and content of the extra-legislative category of the unexpected unusability of a service

Abstract: The book contains the philological edition of the corpus of Hittite texts currently collected under number 631 of the Catalogue des Textes Hittites by E. Laroche. They constitute the description of religious ceremonies celebrated in connection with the atmospheric phenomenon of thunder, interpreted as a manifestation of the god of the storm, which was the greatest divinity of the Hittite pantheon. The documents of major extension, presented with a transliteration and translation, are accompanied by a philological comment, aimed at highlighting their structure as well as lexical and grammatical peculiarities, and are introduced by an analysis of dating conducted on a palaeographic basis. The minor fragments are presented in transcription and, where possible, in translation. The text discusses the possible attribution of each fragment to the corpus, based on structure and content. The critical edition of the texts is preceded by an introductory chapter in which the nature of thunder-related festivities and their status in the Hittite cultural calendar are discussed

Abstract: This book constitutes a study of the lexicon of cereals as witnessed by the Mycenaean inscriptions. The study focuses both on the nouns used to designate cereals, on their compounds and derivatives, and on the terms with which they relate (adjectives, theonyms, toponyms, etc.). The volume is divided into three chapters. The first chapter analyses the six Mycenaean terms together with their derivatives and compounds - phonetically transcribed - which designate cereals or include their names: wheat, barley, wheat flour, barley flour, bakers (= those who bake bread) together with others nouns belonging to the same semantic field, such as seed. The second chapter focuses on three Mycenaean logograms designating cereals: *120, *121 and *129, interpreted respectively as wheat, barley and flour. The third chapter describes the wide set of terms appearing contextually in the inscriptions in which cereals are attested, and groups them according to their meaning: human and divine recipients, toponyms, adjectives, other administrative terms, etc. Finally, the conclusions present an overall assessment of the data analysed in the previous chapters, that is an assessment affecting the economic, political, social and religious sphere of the Mycenaean civilisation

Abstract: The volume collects eight essays on economic and legal culture in Italy in the period between the two world wars. Some of the essays investigate the relationship between the fascist regime and intellectuals, as in the case of the jurist Alfredo Rocco and the economists Luigi Amoroso, Arrigo Serpieri and Alberto Bertolino. Other essays deal with the ways and places through which economics and law were popularised during the fascist dictatorship. The in-depth cases are those of the Bocconi University of Milan and of the School of Corporate Sciences of Pisa. Finally, two essays deal with economic policy in the liberal phase of fascism and with the nature assumed by the legal debate on the corporate problem, identifying in these experiences salient moments of the evolution of the relationship between state and market

Abstract: Several technological developments like the Internet, mobile devices and Social Networks have spurred the sharing of images in unprecedented volumes, making tagging and commenting a common habit. Despite the recent progress in image analysis, the problem of Semantic Gap still hinders machines in fully understand the rich semantic of a shared photo. In this book, we tackle this problem by exploiting social network contributions. A comprehensive treatise of three linked problems on image annotation is presented, with a novel experimental protocol used to test eleven state-of-the-art methods. Three novel approaches to annotate, under stand the sentiment and predict the popularity of an image are presented. We conclude with the many challenges and opportunities ahead for the multimedia community

Abstract: This paper aims to analyze the relationship between. perfectivisation and secondary imperfectivisation in Czech. Recent data show for loan verbs a strong tendency, after a short phase of biaspectualism, towards the creation of aspectual pairs through perfectivisation, e.g. bukovat - zabukovat (to book). This step does not necessarily conclude the process, since secondary imperfectives like zabukovávat are also frequent. This development is in opposition to the tendency towards the elimination of secondary imperfectives, which characterized the historical evolution of the Czech language (Šlosar 1981)

Abstract: Crisis, malaise and social fragmentation are recurring themes in the representation of the middle classes. The volume, based on the results of an investigation into the forensic profession carried out with the contribution of the Bar Council of Florence, delves into the issue by placing itself in a line of studies that has recently regained vigour within the Italian and international sociological debate. By touching on a plurality of themes and using mixed investigation methods, the research has allowed the authors to verify how different employment situations translate into an unequal distribution of life chances and into different attitudes towards profession, politics and social life, allowing also to explore the role played by lawyers in change processes

Abstract: I survey cases of contact-induced influence of Slavic and Baltic systems of prefixal perfectivization on Yiddish, Romani, Livonian and Istroromanian. I show that, although both matter and pattern borrowing of entire systems of Slavic or Baltic verbal prefixes is attested, grammatical aspectual categories similar to those of the donor languages do not arise in the contact languages, or develop in a way distinct from the donor languages (as in Istroromanian). This indicates that abstract grammatical oppositions such as "Slavic-style" aspect are immune to direct transfer in language contact

Abstract: This compendium is aimed at all students who, in the transition from secondary school to university, have to face a chemistry exam in their course of study and want to fill their knowledge gaps or, simply, to review the minimum topics of the subject, before deepening them during university courses. By studying and reviewing the various topics, grouped in parts and units, the reader will therefore have the possibility to access the fundamental notions that make up "General Chemistry". The end-of-chapter exercises are an additional aid allowing students to carry out a self-assessment and, possibly, to identify particularly "difficult" topics to be further studied

Abstract: The calls for the appointment of the liturgical officers, that is, those who were obliged by the state to carry out public service duties, constitute a category of documents produced within the Roman administration of Egypt in the second and third centuries AD; these public notices were issued by the strategus, head of a region. It is a homogeneous group of Greek papyri - about twenty, including two unpublished texts - collected for the first time in this volume: a transcription is provided for each liturgical call, accompanied by the translation and a commentary. Through the comparative analysis of the texts, interesting data emerge to determine the typology of the documents and to reconstruct the development of some procedures of the liturgical system during the second and third centuries AD

Abstract: "Logic", as understood in this volume, is the set of knowledge at the basis of man's reasoning faculties: understanding, analysing, arguing. The text presents a review of topics which are useful to strengthen the skills related to reasoning faculties through a brief introduction to the theoretical aspects and exercises intended to assess the understanding. The volume is divided into parts, which are organised in teaching units. The parts and units are presented in such a way that, following the thread in the order in which they are proposed, we move from one topic to the next, acquiring the prerequisites necessary for to what comes after. The text therefore lends itself to a "systematic" use, aimed at an extensive study. However, nothing prevents the reader from adapting the material to other needs, choosing only a few topics that they consider useful to integrate their knowledge, to do a "review" or to further practice on already known topics

Abstract: In the stem-derivational perfective-imperfective opposition of Slavic the role of prefixes and suffixes has to be assessed jointly. The article evaluates the diachronic backdrop and parameters appropriate for classificatory categories. Special attention is paid to the criteria applied by aspectologists to determine aspect pairs and to aspect triplets. The assessment ends up with a paradox resulting from Maslov's criteria of 'trivial pairednessʼ, which require not only identical lexical meaning, but an ontology for which telic events are the sole basis in the derivation of aspect pairs

Abstract: Architecture has always been suspended in the indefinable (although necessary) tension between a 'truth to be revealed' and a 'truth to be built' and the foundation of the project is to be found, as Kenneth Frampton teaches, in the mutual relationship identified as between the topos, the typos and the 'tectonic', which is thus doubly linked to the specific conditions of a place and to the universal existence of architecture. This volume collects a set of works as found in their relationship with the Earth and that participate in the quest for the double truth mentioned above. From Verona to Fisterra and Cádiz, from Istanbul to Pompeii, the extraordinary nature of the site establishes the settlement principle, but more than that: the project, moving within the precise limits of the discipline, defines for them solid conceptual, as well as physical, bases

Abstract: The death of the self passes through modern culture. However, chooses for himself the role of Psychopomp in obeyance not only to stylistic but also to profoundly ethical reasons. Bassani interrupts his narrative writing to give unity to the Romanzo di Ferrara and to entrust poetry with verses in the form of an epitaph. The testimonial "need" seems to emerge, giving meaning through the Prologue to the Giardino dei Finzi-Contini and to what will come after. It seems that the coherent constructive geometry of an entire work (intertwined since the beginning with refined European readings, figurative and Longhiani memories that Anna Dolfi highlights with wise precision) fully reveals the excess of the hourglass shape, of the conical structures that allow to glimpse distant flakes of light, pushing the real on the perilitant discrimination of the shadow. There, where the existing (objects, characters / people) is offered as a painted image alive only thanks to refraction and indirect projection of the gaze. This book investigates the strategies of Bassani's memory and his playing on revelation / concealment, while deeply analysing the compositional paths of the texts in their allocative ways (the very privilege, in poetry, of the dialogic and epistolary form). Moreover, the work strongly questions the places of the distance, the introjection of mourning, the relationship between history and truth, between the code of reality and the effect of reality, the convergences between biography and culture (in the names of Caravaggio, Cézanne, De Staël, Morandi, Bacon; Dante, Manzoni , Tommaseo, Hawthorne, James, Dickinson, Baudelaire, Mallarmé, Rimbaud ...), offering a new and suggestive interpretation of Bassani's "writing beyond the heart"

Abstract: The diffusion of Kantian philosophy in the Russian culture was a singularly early event: even the Orthodox ecclesiastical Academies were involved in this process, despite the control exercised by the censorship in defense of the metaphysical and theological tradition. The history and sources of the "philosophy of ecclesiastical academies" are also examined through the analysis of the works of two authors (I.Ja. Vetrinskij and P.D. Jurkevic), who, with their reaction to the Kantian "revolution", attested to the deep awareness of the necessity of a real confrontation with criticism. This investigation is completed by an appendix dedicated to the complex events of Kantian studies in the Russian language during the decades marked by the Soviet regime

Abstract: The writings of Vasyl' Stus (1938-1985) offer an interesting example of some typical dynamics of Ukrainian culture, divided among attraction for Europe and the need to reaffirm its own Europeanness, the autoreferential temptation, and the Russian model - in its turn marked by the Westernism/Slavophilism dichotomy. Stus reflects upon Ukrainian literature in relation to its romantic tradition, European modernism and Russian literature, coming to conclusions that may appear unexpected and paradoxical for an intellectual usually deemed a model of traditional patriotism

Abstract: The volume presents a critical reading of the Moscow notebooks by Osip Mandel'štam. The poems are analysed one by one in chronological order, verse by verse, and are accompanied by an interlinear translation. Special attention is paid to their arrangement in poryvy, "impulses" embracing and connecting several compositions, and to their connection with the Mandel'štamian contemporary prose. The aim is to offer on the one hand a support for the reading of the verses, on the other an interpretative glimpse of the work of the late Mandel'štam as a whole

Abstract: The book brings to light a little-known story: the arrival in Italy of thousands of Moriscos exiles, descendants of Arab-Muslim origin, settled for centuries in the Iberian peninsula, baptized following the Christian Reconquista (1492), often accused of crypto-Islamism and betrayal of the homeland, eventually expelled and deported from Spain (1609-1614). What are the obstacles encountered by refugees along the journey of their exodus? What is the behavior of the authorities with respect to the landings? And in what terms have the refugees interacted with the local populations? These are current questions to ancient problems that Italy, in its political fragmentation, has already experienced

Abstract: This paper deals with Slavic micro-languages in situations of absolute language contact with German (Upper Sorbian, Burgenland Croatian) and Italian (Molise Slavic, Resian). The Slavic way of forming aspectual pairs has been preserved throughout, whereas aspect usage has changed. The behaviour of prefixes in borrowings varies according to the individual contact situations: Sorbian and Burgenland Croatian form prefixed partners even from loan verbs in contrast to Resian and Molise Slavic, borrowing telic verbs as perfectives and forming their imperfective partners by means of suffixation

Abstract: How does the current regulatory change in academic work influence the emergence of innovative commercial behaviours among industrial engineers within public universities? In particular, an attempt was made to reconstruct the emergence of an entrepreneurial regulatory dimension as a social construction process involving the main investigators and research groups in third academic mission activities. An in-depth qualitative analysis is carried out based on semi-structured interviews with academic engineering personnel, against the background of a reconstruction of both the development of industrial engineering as an academic discipline, and a recognition of the main changes that have taken place in the Italian academic field in recent years

Abstract: This paper focuses on the analysis of Moscovia, written by Antonio Possevino soon after his diplomatic mission (1581-1582) to the Tsar Ivan IV. The text, composed as a geographical and ethnographical description of a given territory, became a collection of theological and controversial writings on the topic of the eastern Greek and Muscovite schism during its 40 years of editorial history. A deeper analysis of some political aspects of the text, though, shows how these different parameters were somehow inextricably connected within the catholic vision of the 'orthodox' East

This suggestive title reflects the path that will be undertaken in this paper, approaching the two authors as privileged interlocutors in order to analyze the specific artistic dimension of the newest category of writers that has emerged in Ukraine following the post-Soviet historical fracture. Through the lenses of the peculiar features characterizing Franz Kafka's and Nikolaj Gogol's literary experiences, we will be able to highlight the nuances characterizing the specific cultural positioning of contemporary Ukrainian literary production in Russian

Abstract: The volumes on World War I which are published here are the result of a series of seminars held at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Florence between 2014 and 2015. Starting from the occasion of the war's 100th anniversary, the authors wished to take stock of some specific aspects of the studies related to World War I. Historians, military analysts, political scientists and sociologists have also questioned the meaning of the fracture which inaugurated the 20th century and, consequently, the basic features of the new policy of the 'short century', in both an Italian and European perspective

Abstract: The present survey aims at creating the basis for an extensive study on poetry written by victims of political repressions in the whole area of Segregation in the Soviet Union: prisons, forced labour camps, Gulags and confinement. The research relies on evidence drawn from published and archive materials, concerning the 1918-1956 period. We propose a systematization of the corpus, based on a new methodology: the key-concept of 'poetry of Zone' as a literary track of testimony of political repression, which was synchronical to the imprisonment experience in the USSR

Abstract: Governing the complexity of contemporary multicultural societies poses major challenges and a constant tension between substantial equality, the right to difference and social order. Tools, paths and strategies to integrate different communities and individuals within the same horizon of rights and duties are essential to give life to new types of citizenship and to a new sense of belonging. The volume aims to open a critical reflection on the subject, allowing to combine the theoretical horizon with the effectiveness of the law, by analysing four relevant experiences in the European panorama: United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy. These are experiences that propose different models and mechanisms of integration, but which are all crossed by the need to research and experiment innovative and effective paths to cope with one of the most delicate challenges of our time

Abstract: This paper investigates the role that prefixes played in the development of the Slavic aspect category utilizing concepts from dynamic systems theory. It is argued that the bleaching of the prefix u- was crucial in the development of the perfectivizing function of Common Slavic prefixes, and that the semantic concept of change of state functioned as an attractor in the development of the network of prefixes and the aspect category as a whole

Abstract: The volume reconstructs the role of the "art objects" in the renewal of identity (social, political and cultural) of the Mannelli family, among the oldest families of the Florentine patriciate. During the 17th Century the main exponents adopted a lifestyle inspired by the Medici court, gradually dismantling, but at different times, the dress of the merchant. The analysis of the main town and countryside residences and of the displaying of the objects of art, conducted on a documentary basis and with the "display of art" critical tools, returns the fundamental stages of the renewal process and, together with numerous autonomous episodes of unpublished patronage and collecting, the emergence of common narrative strategies of historical and political identity through art objects

Abstract: This monograph examines, for the first time, the reception of the poetic legacy of the Latin poet Horace (65 B.C.-8 B.C.) in the poetics courses written and taught at the Kyiv Mohyla Academy (17th -first half of the 18th century), in particular in the areas of poetic theory, metrics, lyric poetry. The analysis focuses on three main aspects: theoretical recommendations on the role of the poet and the purpose of poetry, as well as on inventio , dispositio , elocutio , drawn mostly from Ars poetica; the use of Horace's poetry in the teaching of metrics and the exemplification of metrical schemes (particularly Alcaic and Sapphic stanzas and the dactilic hexameter); the ways in which Horace's poetry is taken as a model in the composition of poetry, which was a mandatory exercise of the poetics course. The author analyzed the reception of Horace taking into account, on the one hand, the centuries-long Christian reception of the poet, and, on the other, the conception of poetry prevalent at the Mohyla Academy, which saw poetry as an ancillary discipline of moral philosophy, the purpose of which was to contribute to the education of devout Christians and loyal subjects. This approach was in line with the prevalent tendency in European religious schools, whether Protestant, Catholic or Orthodox, especially after the Reformation and the subsequent Counter-Reformation, to see poetry as a rhetorical instrument of Christian morality

Abstract: The volume deals with an uncommon theme in medieval history: the prison and its inhabitants. In the medieval prison, the prisoners - waiting for their sentence, or imprisoned for debts, or because socially dangerous or found guilty of a crime - were not abandoned to themselves; families, the Church, devout lay people and public authorities took charge of their needs. In the case of Milan, the prison system and the relationship between prisoners, justice and mercy takes on particular nuances. Prisons (including private ones) are numerous and scattered throughout the city: the largest is a prison-hospital, which certainly imprisons, but suggests that it is useful (for economic reasons) to help the survival of the offender and their return to society. The citizens of Milan in the 15th Century are also aware of the risks of abandoning prisoners (men and women) to a justice that, for its costs, only protects the strongest. Here are the Protectors of prisoners: useful not only to the weak ones in prison, but also to the Dominus, who supports them. The duke, interested in correcting the system excesses, is also (and perhaps above all) eager to show himself merciful, and as such superior to the law. Investigating the condition of prisoners thus proves to be a way to grasp not only the dynamics of social exclusion and inclusion relevant to the control of deviance, but also the mechanisms of relationship between rulers and subjects in the late Middle Ages

Abstract: Thanks to a linguistic comparison of travel notes by Fascist intellectuals in the USSR I have identified three interpretative models of the Soviet phenomenon: theories about the character of Russian people; the presence of analogies between Soviet industry and American Fordism; similarities between fascism and communism. The result is both a fracture and integration with the West: as a fracture, Soviet Russia was perceived as positively close to Fascist Italy, whereas the similarities with the American model of economic growth were considered negative

Abstract: This compendium represents a starting point for those who wish to review the main topics of Physics in view of the admission tests to the scientific faculties. The main purpose of the text is to intrigue the reader, invite them to ask questions about the world around us and provide them with the basic skills to face the admission test to the University, serenely and with the appropriate competence. This is not a book and it is certainly not exhaustive, but it remains consistent with the topics proposed in the admission tests. The volume is divided into 8 parts which deal with the main topics that students face during secondary school: kinematics, dynamics, fluids, gas, thermodynamics, electrostatics, geometric optics and waves. Each topic is accompanied by multiple choice questions with frequently commented answers. The complexity in the presentation of the topics is weighed on the knowledge that a student leaving the secondary school should have acquired during the course of their studies

Abstract: The theme of written communication is the red thread linking all the historical essays collected here. However, it does not concern the study of the specific channel or of its history, but rather the methods used to create writings or editorial initiatives, for the achievement of specific objectives. Writing and publishing are the two poles around which the various contributions revolve, whose features respond to a project aimed at probing the intention underlying the work of authors and publishers engaged in transmitting not only news, but above all contents: from religious to cultural, literary, scientific, political, or propaganda. The aim is the one of trying to read European History through a lens supporting the trends of the contemporary world, reflecting opinions, strategies and communication methods developed in different eras, so as to arouse interest around aspects of past realities which reveal new historical processes

Abstract: The term preverb stacking (PS) designates the co-occurrence on one verbal base of two or more prefixes bearing spatial, aspectual, or quantificational meanings. The phenomenon is especially productive in Slavic but is also attested in other Indo-European and non-Indo-European languages. This paper provides a first attempt at a cross-linguistic typology of PS. It will also pay attention to problems typical of Slavic (i.e. the interaction of PS and the aspectual value of the verb in terms of the typical Slavic perfective vs. imperfective dichotomy). Special attention will be paid to Bulgarian

Abstract: The vitality of a scientific field is usually attested by the fallout that research and publications have on the community of scholars who practice it and, therefore, on the development of the discipline itself and of its methodologies. The degree of "health" of a field of study, as well as its ability to get out of its niche of scholars and to see its validity recognised, is assessed by analysing whether and to what extent the works are read, commented on, cited by scholars from other geographical contexts and / or other scientific branches. The volume presents a research focused on the analysis of the level of internationalisation and vitality of Italian studies in the disciplines related to the study of books and documents, conducted through a series of parallel bibliometric investigations (query of citation databases, searches in Google scholar, application alternative metrics, library catalog analysis)

Abstract: This book was born as a "work in in progress" and collects many of the public presentations of Giacomo Becattini's book "La cosicenza dei luoghi. Il territorio come soggetto corale" ("The Conscience of Places. The territory as a choral subject"), published by Donzelli in 2015. The presentations inspired great methodological passion, concrete perspectives and also criticism. In fact, the text of Becattini has raised issues of great importance on the perspectives of local development, by projecting them on the very future of human societies in a period of crisis and global uncertainty. The richness, the plurality of accents and the depth of the debate that has developed ensure that the collection lives a "life of its own" even with respect to the book of origin. Becattini's disappearance, which occurred just as the volume was being edited, leaves a huge void but stimulates even more the debate on this fresco, painted by several artists on the trace of his recent work

Abstract: The present book addresses a wide range of problems concerning the history of Eastern Slavic culture in its interaction with cultural models of Western Europe. This collective work is the final result of the French-Italian conference "Fratture e integrazioni tra Russia, mondo slavo orientale e Occidente. Storia e civiltà letteraria dal Medioevo all'epoca contemporanea" (University of Florence, April 16-17, 2015): the complexity of cultural relations between Russia, the Slavic East and the European West is analysed by enhancing the variety of points of view and by using different methodological approaches and perspectives provided by different fields of study. Here, new materials and new analytical methods are presented, useful for studying the complex interactions between the Western cultural tradition and the Eastern Slavic one from the Middle Ages to the present day. The "fractures" and "integrations" are identified through critical reading or rereading of texts, works and authors who have taken part in the construction and development of cultural relations between the different European areas

Abstract: The study aims to read the biography of Maximus the Greek in the light of the culture of humanism and the Christian renewal movements taking place between fifteenth and sixteenth century, and to highlight his role as educator in Russia. The ecclesiastic hierarchy tried to come to terms with his authoritative personality, making the most of his work to counter the influence of the Western world. At the same time, they kept him under strict control, while he intervened against anything that might undermine the authentic Christian and the monastic tradition

Abstract: The goal of this paper is to give a brief outline of the synchronic conditions which trigger the emergence of aspectual values in Latin verbal prefixes. In particular, I will show that such a possibility is not the result of bare semantic effects, lexicalization of idioms or compounding strategies; rather, aspectual preverbation crucially has to do with syntactic factors, namely the argument structure of the verb, the prepositional character of the prefixes, and the interactions between those components

The diaries kept by hundreds of exhausted and starved Leningraders allow an in-depth study of the terminology used by ordinary citizens to name the Germans (between fascism and internationalism) who bombed the city almost daily. It refines our understanding of the effectiveness of the Soviet propaganda, and thus contributes to a broader reflection on the mechanisms of internalization and deconstruction of the official discourse, and its influence on the popular language

Abstract: The purpose of this book is to explore the transformations in the functioning of power in the countryside of the kingdom of Italy over the fifty years at the turn of the 1100s, and more particularly the process of affirmation and crystallization of the rural lordship. The investigation develops through the reconstruction not only of the structures of power over men and space, and of the related social morphologies, but also of the political communication system at the local level. The outbreak of the civil wars connected with the "struggle for the Investitures", after 1080, translates into a clear reconfiguration of the socio-political matrix, transforming both the practices of local power, and the instruments of political communication and the related documentation. The Italian case offers in this sense a new perspective on the great and still open historiographic problem, of the "feudal revolution" in the European context

Abstract: In this paper, I analyse the role of prefixation in the Old Church Slavonic (OCS) verbal aspect system. For my analysis, I first need to establish how the aspect of OCS verbs can be determined. To that end, I use a combination of methods: morphological categorization, grammatical profiling and semantic analysis. My analysis shows that, although prefixation in most cases equals perfectivization in OCS, it does not create aspect pairs like suffixation does. This is mainly because of the fact that many simplex verbs in OCS are anaspectual, even when prefixed formations exist

Abstract: The Committee Firenze 2016, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the tragic 1966 flood, invited six engineers and scientists to form an International Technical Scientific Committee (ITSC) to assess the current status of flood protection for the city of Florence and identify steps to reduce the risk of flooding facing the city. In this final Report, ITSC concludes that Florence remains at risk to significant flooding and this risk grows each day. It is not a question of whether a flood of the magnitude of 1966 or greater will occur, but when. In fact, the level of protection that exists in Florence now is not on a level appropriate to the citizens and treasures that rest within the city. If, under current conditions, a 1966-like flood occurred, the consequences to human lives, treasures, properties and community infrastructure could be much more catastrophic than they were in 1966

Abstract: Teoria e ricerca sull'apprendimento del tedesco L2 (Theory and research on learning German L2) is a technical-scientific manual designed for German language teaching courses in the context of training courses for future teachers. It offers an overview of the main theories and disciplines that deal with L2 language learning and teaching, describes the main research conducted on German L2 focusing on the particular case of guided learning for Italian speakers and, based on the results obtained from the research conducted so far, proposes a reflection focused on didactic. The volume is intended as a starting point for reflection also for teachers of German L2 already working in the schools as well as for researchers and scholars engaged in the study of language learning

Abstract: The article adresses the well-known question about the eventual links between the Old Russian Domostroi and the European domestic handbooks and focuses on the aporia to which lead all the previous comparative works. The methodological character of the impasse apears clearly when we analyze those works in the light of a clearly defined comparative method. As a result, the author suggests to address the relationships between the Domostroi and its European analogues no more from the traditional literary point of view but from a historical one

Abstract: The compendium collects the basic themes of biology in a very simplified form, ideally following the programmatic criteria of secondary school. The didactic program is articulated starting from the molecules that make up living organisms to end at the theoretical basis of ecology and environmental protection. All the main topics of life sciences such as genetics, anatomy and the evolution of organisms are addressed, always trying to convey the heart of the theoretical concept through a simple but adequate terminology. The goal is to offer a first look at the basis of biology to those who intend to carry out an in-depth study of this subject, which is extremely fascinating but also decidedly complex, vast and multifaceted

Abstract: The volume explores the work of two classic authors such as Capuana and Verga under the lens of the postcolonial perspective, accepting the thesis of the Italian unification process as an internal colonisation process. The author investigates the effects of colonisation on the representation of the Sicilian rural life, highlighting areas of ambiguity and hybridism in the writings of Capuana and Verga. The two writers, living between the colonised world and the colonising world, sometimes take part in the realisation of the hegemonic national discourse, sometimes create counter-discourses, in a never definitive alternation that makes the texts of the two Veristi rich and fascinating

Abstract: This book is the second part of the work devoted to the tourist guide as a meeting place between lexicon and images of cultural heritage, a work resulting from the colloquium which took place on June 11 and 12, 2015 in Pisa and Florence. This volume focuses on the image, as a representation of reality but also as a place from which the imagination can be exercised by evoking mental representations (the imaginary). The three proposed sections (I. Les images du voyage; II. L'art dans le guide; III. Les guides entre imaginaire et propagande) intend to suggest routes of reflection around the tourist guide, an object that has never ceased to transform and which, through the lexicon and images, has been able to transmit the most different and picturesque cultural heritages

Abstract: Despite a feeling of clear opposition towards hunting is widely spread, it does not seem possible to imagine a world in which the hunting practice is completely eliminated. Hunting, or rather and more generally wildlife hunting activities, have deep historical and cultural roots. In recent times, ethical and cultural sensibilities and views, as well as personal and collective choices (all very legit) have emerged around the hunting activity. This study therefore offers a broad overview of the changes which have taken place in hunting wildlife policies, with particular reference to Tuscany

Abstract: In a context that may seem, to a fairly realistic pessimist, of forced choice between fanatic neo-fundamentalisms and trivializing single thought, a 'common cause' like the Italian Constitution offers itself as a reference to which to look at with motivated trust from different perspectives and situations, often conflicting. To constitutionalize means to make the Constitution more authentically itself by preserving what is to be guarded and creating what is yet to be created. The underlying theme and highly original contribution of this book is the concept of pléroma or fullness of being: a strategic concept that enhances the original personalism of the Constitution and absorbs - by unifying and orienting - the restoring, interpreting and integrating of the constitutional text, proposing a political-legal project in line with the current times

Abstract: This publication concerns the history of the Tuscan Capuchin convents since their foundation in the 18th century, analysed through the transcription and critical edition of a manuscript written in 1704 by Filippo Bernardi da Firenze (1649-1721). It is a source of great interest both for considering the events happening in the convents, and more generally for the history of Tuscany itself. In fact, the manuscript collects numerous transcribed documents - dating from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century - whose originals are now partially lost. Through these testimonies it is possible to retrace the events of the Tuscan communities and obtain numerous information of a social, anthropological and cultural nature. The manuscript is preceded by a historical introduction to the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin and by the biography of Filippo da Firenze

Abstract: After the Second World War, the economies of advanced Countries have long been characterized by inclusive economic growth. In recent decades, on the other hand, there has been a steady increase in inequalities and a worsening for low-income social groups. What is the possibility of rebuilding a more inclusive development like that of the post-war three decades? Is it a viable road? And under what conditions? Or should we instead speculate that divorce is inevitable between economic growth and social cohesion in advanced democracies? There is no sure answer to this question, but it can be a good exercise, especially for those who believe that inclusive development is an essential component of the quality and stability of democracies, asking themselves under what conditions we can try to pursue this goal. The path proposed in this text focuses, in a comparative key, on the significant differences in the forms of economic and social regulation between the various advanced democracies that are reflected in more or less inclusive development paths and models of capitalism. Why have some countries managed to better defend the conditions for inclusive development over the past three decades? Through which economic and social regulatory choices? Moreover, another overlooked question is worth asking. How has politics created consensus around these choices and made them possible, while in other contexts it has supported growth accompanied by greater inequalities? What is certain is that giving up the goal of finding a more satisfactory balance between economic growth and social cohesion not only jeopardizes economic development, but also weakens and impoverishes democratic institutions

Abstract: The third volume of Florentia continues the periodic series of studies related to the education activities of the School of Specialization in Archaeology of the University of Florence. The selected studies are elaborations drawn from the best graduation dissertations written by students in recent years, according to criteria that favour the elements of greater thematic innovation and methodological solidity. The essays represent the fundamental specializations of the School: pre-protohistoric, orientalistic, "classical" (in its various components, Greco-Roman and Etruscan-Italic), medieval. The authors come from universities throughout the country: a variety that nevertheless reveals the cultural background characterising the Florentine Archaeological School, starting from the lesson of the renowned founders of the School, Paolo Emilio Pecorella and Luigi Beschi, to whose memory this volume is dedicated. The collaboration between professors (mostly young people) and students gives form to a community coordinated with the other Specialization Schools of the University dealing with territorial cultural heritage (Archaeology, History of Art, Architecture). The topics chosen are also projected into a public dimension, in relation to the main issues of the current civil society - from the social impact of the role of the militant archaeologist, to the contribution of the identity of a "public archaeology" in a society that rapidly changes among "new Italians" and a social use of culture, to the new role of archaeology - also in crisis contexts and not only international ones

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to compare the superlexical prefixes of Russian and Bulgarian. The main focus is on delimitative and attenuative po- in derived PF forms as well as in secondary IPF verbs. Using the Russian-Bulgarian parallel corpus, I show that there is a functional parallelism between PF and IPF delimitatives in Russian and Bulgarian. The semantic similarity between delimitative and attenuative meaning is the basis for expressing special pragmatic functions by means of both PF and IPF poattenuatives in Bulgarian, while attenuative po-verbs in Russian express specific pragmatic meanings primarily via PF forms

Abstract: As in a journey back in time, the stages of the first tournées of Italian actors in Russia in the 18th Century are retraced. By studying the translations of comedies and musical interludes, staged in St. Petersburg from 1731 to 1738, the practices of the first Italians who trod the stages of Tsarina Anna Ioannovna are rediscovered. Through the translation of the repertoire that has come down to us, the author reconstructs the traces of the Commedia dell'Arte and of the life and works of a handful of interpreters ready to face dangerous journeys in order to obtain gains and honors. The research, conducted on printed documents and primary archival sources, also based on the previous studies of Starikova and Ferrazzi, devotes particular attention to the biographies of the interpreters

Abstract: Antinoupolis III, yet another volume having as its object an extremely important archaeological area in Graeco-Roman Egypt: the city founded on the left bank of the Nile in 130 AD by Hadrian in honour of Antinoos. Over 700 pages constitute the two volumes of this publication. The first volume proposes several studies on archaeological materials, such as African sealed ceramics, locally produced wine amphorae (LRA 7), stone mortars, sporadic fragments of ornamental stones, a cup with a glass-painted inside, fabrics of the so-called 'Coptic' type, as well as analysis of forensic anthropology on the bone remains of a certain Theodosia, whose funeral chapel had been discovered and illustrated in the excavations conducted on the site of the University of Florence in the mid-1930s. In the second volume, there are editions of new papyri, parchments and ostraka, with texts based on documents from everyday life or from the Classical and Christian literary culture. The involved languages are Ancient Greek, Coptic and Arabic. The inscriptions in these three languages, most of them funerary, bring forth significant novelties. The documentation is evidence of the life which, especially in the late ancient age, carried on in the remains of a large metropolis located in Egypt, one of the most important provinces of the Roman empire

Abstract: I. Repin's "Ivan the Terrible and his son", exhibited in 1885, in a very tense social and political context, sparked off fierce reactions. While the Itinerant painter Kramskoj is enthusiastic, the ge-neral-prosecutor of the Holy Synod, K. Pobedonoscev, finds the painting "simply repulsive". In France a similar scandal was caused by Gericault's "Raft of the Medusa" (1819). It represents the last instants of the martyrdom of the survivors of the Medusa's shipwreck (1816). Repin's painting, unlike that of Gericault, keeps on arousing a great hostility nowadays in conservative Russian circles

Abstract: The oldest translation in a modern language (vulgarization) of Caesar's commentaries, published in 1438 by Pier Candido Decembrio and dedicated to Filippo Maria Visconti and Inigo d'Avalos, is published for the first time in a critical edition. The text is presented by a rich introduction, which provides a detailed overview of the work, with particular regard to the dedications that accompany it, the style of translation and the Latin exemplar used by the humanist, recognized in a code of the Sächsische Landesbibliothek in Dresden, which, already severely damaged during World War II, was restored at the request of the author of the research at the Government of Saxony, revealing the exceptional ecdotic revision made by the Decembrium on the corpus Caesarianum. The online edition of the volume is accompanied by a special appendix to the philological introduction, which includes all the errors and lessons of the manuscripts that have passed on the vulgarization

Abstract: Carlo Cecchi: funambolo della scena italiana (Carlo Cecchi: a funambulist of the Italian stage) constitutes the only monograph on the Florentine actor, director and master of dramatic art of the Italian theatre. The book reconstructs the actor's artistic story in order to carve out two attitudes characterizing his relationship with the stage: the personal training path and the modalities of the trainer job: Apprenticeship and magisterium. While this study unwinds, Florence takes on a particular centrality: from an abandoned and renegade homeland to an intentionally rediscovered island, in which the actor-director lives one of the most significant phases of his maturity, directing the Teatro Niccolini from 1980 to 1995 - recently reopened as a school for a wide group of students, actors-protagonists of today's stages

Abstract: This article discusses some antinomies concerning the category of verbal aspect in Russian, which generate apparent contradictions on a theoretical level. Special attention is paid to Russian aspectual pairs (considered in a cross-Slavic perspective). I focus on antinomies applying to different ways of expressing the aspectual semantics of verbs (lexical, grammatical and derivational), as well as on rules regulating the use of perfective and imperfective verbs. Our study confirms the need to distinguish between lexical and grammatical limits of action in a theory of Slavic aspect

Abstract: The paper is concerned with the history of the Russian verb past' 'fall', which until the mid-19th century used to have biaspectual present forms. The analysis deals both with the historical motivation for this biaspectual behaviour and the factors behind its loss. The most important stage of the process seems to be the gradual disappearance of the primary spatial usages of past': these came to be expressed by a newly created aspectual pair, padat'/upast'. The latter is close to the so-called two-stem perfectivation verbs, which I examined in more detail in my previous work

Abstract: The four documents published for the first time in extenso are dedicated to the memorable events such as the last uprising of Strel'tsy, the two investigations organized by the authorities, and the execution of the culprits. The documents bring some new details about the rebellion, but they prove to be much more interesting from another point of view - that of the setting up of the image of the young tsar in the diplomatic documents of that time. In this sense, Paul Heins' letters prepare the image of Piter the Great that will be created by the panegyrics of the tsar in the XVIIIth century
