Abstract:
"This catalogue is part of and complements the exhibition 30 X Bienal - Transformations in Brazilian Art from the 1st to the 30th edition, held at the Bienal Pavilion from September 21 to December 8 2013. To the introductory curatorial text by Paulo Venancio Filho, which details the guiding motives and questions behind the present exhibition, we have added a compilation of texts published in daily newspapers and specialised magazines between 1951 and 2012 seeking to recreate, in part, the atmosphere of the debates raging during each period and the critical reception of each Bienal. The selection was taken from a larger compilation of texts included in the Bienial archive, completed on the occasion of the 28th Bienal and which ended up no betuing published, to which we have added new articles."--page 14
