Abstract:
Im westlichen Diskurs ist Afrika Stellvertreter einer radikalen Differenz, des ganz Anderen. Es symbolisiert in seiner "abnormalen Differenz die Identität des Eigenen" (V.Y.Mudimbe). Wie reagiert die Philosophie in Afrika auf ein Denken, das die eigene Wahrnehmung so nachhaltig beeinflußt hat? Welche unterschiedlichen Perspektiven auf die europäische Geistesgeschichte wurden entwickelt und welche Auswege aus der damit verbundenen epistemologischen Falle gefunden? Mit welchen Mitteln läßt sich die für die afrikanische Entwicklung so fatale Dichotomie von Tradition und Moderne auflösen?
