    Abstract: The 2014 edition of the International Handbook of Evaluated Reactor Physics Benchmark Experiments contains data from 135 experimental series that were performed at 48 reactor facilities. A total of 131 of the 135 evaluations are published as approved benchmarks. The remaining four evaluations are published as draft documents only. New to the handbook are benchmark specifications for selected measurements from the VENUS-7 series that were performed in the zero power VENUS reactor at SCK•CEN, Mol (Belgium) as part of the “Plutonium Recycle Programme”.

    Abstract: Regulating the long-term safety of geological disposal of radioactive waste is a key part of making progress on the radioactive waste management issue. A survey of member countries has shown that differences exist both in the protection criteria being applied and in the methods for demonstrating compliance, reflecting historical and cultural differences between countries which in turn result in a diversity of decision-making approaches and frameworks. This conference proceedings presents discussions focused on diversity in regulatory processes; the basis and tools for assuring long-term protection; ethical responsibilities of one generation to later generations and how these can be discharged; and adapting regulatory processes to the long time frames involved in implementing geological disposal. These proceedings include a summary of the viewpoints expressed as well as the 22 papers presented at the workshop.

    Abstract: Performance assessment of repository concepts for the geological disposal of long-lived radioactive waste relies on the availability of thermodynamic data for many radionuclides and other elements under a wide range of physico-chemical conditions. For the past ten years, the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) has been co-ordinating a multinational effort to produce a database of selected thermochemical values that would satisfy the requirements of the various national programmes in Member countries. This project is known as the NEA Thermochemical Database (TDB) Project. This publication contains the full papers and summary discussion records of a workshop attended by scientists active in the field of chemical thermodynamics and experts in repository performance assessment who use the thermochemical databases for their evaluations. During the workshop, participants discussed current experimental and theoretical standpoints, new data requirements and the peculiarities of their application in performance assessment.

Ce rapport définit les besoins actuels dans les domaines de la modélisation et de la surveillance, et propose des stratégies qui aideront les décideurs, dans la mesure où elles permettront une meilleure sélection des données transmises ainsi qu’une meilleure transmission et réception des informations. Des moyens modernes de communication, tels que l’Internet, jouent un rôle essentiel dans les stratégies décrites.

Après avoir comparé les effets respectifs des deux options tant à partir de modèles et d’hypothèses génériques que de données réelles, l’étude conclut que la différence entre les deux n’est pas significative. Le rapport comporte en annexe une grande quantité de données récentes compilées et évaluées par une équipe internationale d’experts.

    Abstract: The opening of energy markets is leading to increased competition, and the nuclear power industry must adapt if it is to meet this challenge. Internationally discussions are taking place among government authorities and electric utilities and vendors on how to deal with the rapid technical development and optimisation of nuclear fuel and its utilisation under new, more aggressive fuel management strategies. Improving reactor core monitoring systems is an important part of this process. Participants in a recent NEA workshop discussed how instrumentation, methods and models used in core monitoring can be validated or, if needed, improved and further developed to provide more reliable and detailed information on local power in the core and on other parameters indirectly affecting fuel duty. This book shows how the core monitoring system can be used to support reactor operation in normal and anticipated transient modes and to supply data used to derive initial key core parameters for transient and accident analysis.

En conclusion, que l’on adopte ou non la même perspective, les résultats numériques sont très difficilement comparables, car fortement dépendants des limites de l’évaluation (scénario d’accident utilisé, caractéristiques du site et importance des rejets de radioactivité). Cet ouvrage fait la synthèse des résultats du Groupe et s’adresse aux décideurs, aux experts ainsi qu’aux spécialistes de la modélisation des conséquences d’accidents.

Elle examine des estimations de coût pour des centrales nucléaires, au charbon, au gaz et utilisant des sources d'énergie renouvelables. Des experts de quatorze pays de l'OECD et de cinq pays non membres ont fourni des coûts d'investissement, d'exploitation et d'entretien, et de combustible pour plus de 70 centrales. Une méthode d'analyse commune permet d'obtenir des coûts actualisés comparables, exprimés en cents/kWh. En outre, l'étude explore l'influence sur les coûts des variations de la durée de vie économique et du facteur de charge des centrales ainsi que de la hausse des prix des combustibles fossiles. Faisant autorité en la matière, cette publication sera particulièrement utile aux analystes des systèmes électriques et aux experts en économie de la production d'électricité.
