Abstract:
Der Augsburger Religionsfrieden vom 25. September 1555 erkannte auf Dauer die Existenz zweier Konfessionen im Heiligen Römischen Reich Deutscher Nation an. Rechtliche, politische und kulturelle Entwicklungen liefen in den deutschen Regionen deshalb in der Folge vielfach getrennt voneinander ab. Der Religionsfrieden steht am Anfang einer Koexistenz von römisch-katholischem und evangelischem Glauben, die die Einheit von Kirche und Kaisertum beendete, sowie einer Zeit der konfessionellen Duldung und des religionspolitischen Konflikts
