Abstract:
Mit blutigen Konflikten, Terroranschlägen und der Forderung nach einem eigenen Staat erregt eine Minderheit der Sikhs weltweites Aufsehen. Der Freiburger Politikwissenschaftlerin, die wiederholt über den Sikh-Konflikt gearbeitet hat, (u.a. in "Indien. Ein Handbuch", ID 9/96) geht es um die Vermittlung von umfassendem Hintergrundwissen. Anschaulich führt sie, gestützt auf ihre Feldstudien im Panjab und Delhi und auf zahlreiche Interviews mit Terroristen, Politikern, Betroffenen aus der Zivilbevölkerung u.a. in Glauben, Mentalität, Lebensweise, Geschichte und politische Vorstellungen der Sikhs ein und analysiert Ursachen und Verlauf des Sikh-Konfliktes.
