    Abstract: The decorated symbol of the market-privileges, the "Freiung", a wooden arm holding a clean sword on a 4.6 meters high post is carried round the village headed by the "Wegauskehrer" and accompanied by the people of rank and a brass band and is then set amidst the market.

    Abstract: In einer bäuerlichen Waldwirtschaft in Rohr am Gebirge wird die Holzkohlenerzeugung als Nebenerwerb betrieben. Man errichtet dafür aus Hartholzstämmen einen Langmeiler. Aufbau, Betreuung des Meilers während des Verkohlungsprozesses, Ausbringen der Kohle (Ausstören).
    Abstract: In Rohr im Gebirge, situated in a densely wooded farming area, charcoal production is carried on for a subsidiary livelyhood. The hard wood trunks are pild into an oblong charcoal pile. The film shows construction and tending of the pile during the carbonization process as well as the final reaming and clearing out of the pile.
