Abstract:
Abstract:
Karl Straub (born 1892) is one of the last painters of clockfaces in the Black Forest. The film shows him during his work, in this way it is possible to duplicate the completion of a clockface. In the beginning the panel gets its priming, then the dail is formed and following the empty spaces are decorated. Typical for clocks from the region around Furtwangen is the rose in the arc, for which decoration Karl Straub devotes most of his attention. Apart from the painting the film also imparts how the paint is used and which tools the painter needs.
