Abstract:
In einem Waldstück bei Malingdam halten sich mehrere Männer auf. Uwok, ein führender Mann des Dorfes, kerbt mit seinem Steinbeil einen Baumstamm in Schulter- und Kopfhöhe ein. Zwischen den Einkerbungen sprengt er mit dem Beil Späne aus dem Stamm. Er arbeitet von der oberen Kerbe auf die untere zu und vertieft den Einschnitt an der unteren Kerbe. An dieser Stelle bricht der Stamm durch und fällt.
Abstract:
A number of men are in a piece of woodland near Malingdam. Uwok, a prominent man in the village, is notching a tree trunk at shoulder and head height with his stone adze. He breaks chips out of the trunk between the notches with his adze. He works from the upper notch toward the lower one and deepens the cut at the lower notch. The trunk breaks at this location and falls.
