    Abstract: Buben und Mädchen spielen mit großer Hingabe einzeln oder zu mehreren mit Steinen, die für sie Rinder, Kälber, Schafe und Ziegen repräsentieren. Sie bauen kleine runde Erdwälle als Rinderkrale und sortieren die Steinchen nach Größe in verschiedene Krale, ordnen sie in einer Reihe, um sie auszutreiben, übersiedeln sie und kommentieren dabei ihr Tun.
    Abstract: Boys and girls playing alone and together with stones which represent cows, calves, sheep and goats. They build kraals with little earth walls and sort the stones after size in different kraals, put them in a row, to take out cattle and move it, commenting their play.

    Abstract: Himbamädchen fertigen aus Maiskolben einfache Püppchen an, indem sie ihnen Stoffstückchen als Schurz umbinden. Sie spielen sowohl einzeln als auch in kleinen Gruppen. Sie lassen die Püppchen tanzen, legen sie schlafen und decken sie zu. Ein Bub spielt mit und führt die Püppchen in einer Dose, die einen Wagen verkörpert, spazieren.
    Abstract: Himba girls make simple dolls from corncobs, dressing them with a piece of cloth. They play alone and im small groups. They make the dolls dance, put them to sleep and blanket them. A boy joins their play and takes the dolls for a walk, putting them in a can representing a doll's pram.

    Abstract: Ein einjähriger und ein etwa neunjähriger Bub explorieren im Freien. Dabei kommt es zu Begegnungen mit deutlich ambivalentem Verhalten, Kontaktforderung und Abwehr, wobei sie einander mit Steinen bewerfen. Der Einjährige reagiert auf verbale Verbote ("mem"), die er auch wiederholt. Mit Stöckchen schlägt, hebelt und stößt er und erkundet so variantenreich die Möglichkeiten des Einsetzens dieser Werkzeuge. Die Erwachsenen kommentieren sein Tun.
    Abstract: Study of the explorative behaviour of a one-year-old and a nine-year-old boy playing outside. Their behaviour is ambivalent, inviting and defensive, throwing each other with stones. The one-year-old responses to verbal interdictions by repeating them. He beats and pushes with little sticks, handling them with many variations, thus exploring the possibilities of tool use. Adults comment on his play.
