Abstract: Two young women prepare a paste from melon seeds to clean their skin. They grind the roasted seeds in a mortar, mix it with melonpulp and rub the resulting paste on their bodies and off again. This cleans the skin and oils it at the same time. At the end both aid each other in cleaning the back in social grooming. The film demonstrates the event first with normal frequency and afterwards the same event is shown speeded up, as taken without interruption with a second camera.

Abstract: Mehrere Varianten der spontan entwickelten Tänze.
Abstract: Several variants of a melon-game dance which developed spontaneously are documented. Two girls exercise the game. They attract several adult women who join in, and a perfect melonball dance developes. Women standing behind each other form a circle. One woman holding a melon leaves the circles to perform a variety of figures and finally throws the melon to the woman following her while she returns to the circle of clapping and chanting women. The sequence of events ends with a round dance. The women form a circle and while the group dances a melon passes from one dancer to the other. Each dancer throws the melon backwards over her shoulder to the dancer following her.

Abstract: The Tsama-melon plays a key role in the life of the G/wi. For some months of the year the melon is the main provider of water and their seeds are an important source of food. Women collect the melons and harvest their seed in the fields. For consumation the seeds are roasted in hot ashes and sand, then they are ground in a mortar. The resulting powder can be eaten without further preparation. To squench the thirst the meat of the melon is eaten. Sometimes it is squashed with the end of the digging stick inside the melon, which serves as a container, from which the Bushmen drink the pulp.

The film shows the dancing around the women sitting on the ground clapping the rhythm and singing. The dancers extract the evil by touching the women with the palm. Abstract: A group of men shows a co-operative dance-play. They stand in a queue one behind the other stamping and panting a rhythm. Two men in front of this row act out to this rhythm a number of figures which imitate amongst others the sexual behavior of antelopes. Finally one of the dancers jumps over the other and returns to the queue and another one replaces him. The one that did not jump may stay or be replaced.
