    Abstract: Die beste Töpferin von Bufeo Pozo formt aus langen Tonwülsten in Spiralwulsttechnik einen konischen Tonkörper. Die Außen- und Innenseite streicht sie mit dem Daumen bzw. einem Kalebassenstück glatt, wobei eine dünnwandige, flachbödige Trinkschale entsteht. Diese hat eine konvexe, zum Schalenfuß hin konkav verlaufende Wandung. Den Rand streicht sie mit einem angefeuchteten Bananenschalenstück glatt.
    Abstract: Matilda, the best potter of the Piro village of Peslu kmihi (spanish name: Bufeo Pozo), is making a drinking vessel. The vessel is built up by the coiling method. The conical pot obtained is then widened and modeled with gourd sherds on its inner and outer surfaces until it is brought into the desired shape of a flat-bottomed bowl with a convexo-concave wall.

    Abstract: Ein Mann aus dem Dorf Miaria stellt ein Paddel zum Antrieb von Einbäumen her. Dabei benutzt er Axt und Buschmesser zur Herausarbeitung der rohen Form sowie Buschmesser, einen dechselartigen Ziehhobel und ein kurzes Messer zur endgültigen Formgebung. Die Erprobung des fertigen, unten in eine Spitze auslaufenden Paddels erfolgt direkt danach.
    Abstract: Luis ("Ruwisio") Piño, a man from the Piro village of Miaria (Lower Urubamba), makes, with the use of an axe, a bush knife, and a drawing plane, a paddle for propelling canoes. He first roughly trims the length of wood with an axe and the bush knife, from time to time turning the work piece, then he shapes it into the desired form with the bush knife. To plane the blade Luis uses an adze-like drawing plane (katutu), but he also scrapes the blade and the handle of the paddle for some time with the bush knife, the universal tool of the Indians living in the Selva, and with a smaller knife. At least the paddle has got its characteristic shape tapering to a point. Luis takes the finished paddle, goes down to the river, and paddles his canoe upstream and then back to the landing-place: the paddle is suitable for use and well done.

    Abstract: Frauen aus Miaria holen Blattmittelrippen des wilden Rohres Gynerium spec. und Bastfasern aus dem Wald und flechten eine Matte in der Technik des randparallelen Flechtens. Der Randabschluß erfolgt in der Technik des Zwirnbindens.
    Abstract: Three half-sisters of a Piro family living in Miaria on the Upper Urubamba go by boat to a place where they find wild growing reed (Gynerium spec.). They detach the inner ribs of the reed-leaves, tie them into bundles and take them home. After this they select in the nearby forest a tree with a flexible fibrous bark, strip the bark from the tree, remove the inner bark and carry it home. In the house Laura, the second sister, who will make a mat, lays a double bast strip on the ground, places the ribs of the reed-leaves at right angle between the bast strips, and passes bast fibers through the leaf-ribs (technique of wicker basket weave in the main part and of twined weave at the edges). After plaiting from the middle one half of the mat, Laura turns round and makes the second half. The protruding ends of the leaf-ribs are then cut, the ends of the bast strips knotted at the edge of the mat. Laura calls her smaller brothers and sisters and they sit down with her on the new mat.
