Abstract:
»Geschichte« ist zum medialen Ereignis geworden. Das Spektrum reicht vom Sachbuch oder Roman über Werbung und Film bis hin zu Gedenkstätten, Denkmalen und touristisch genutzten Orten. Geschichte kann als Event »erlebt« werden, dient als Folie für Computerspiele und wird journalistisch vermarktet. So entstehen wirkmächtige Geschichts-Bilder, die das historische Verständnis zunehmend prägen. Wie reagieren Museen auf die Inflation dieser Vorstellungen? Welche Verantwortung hat das Museum für eine Geschichtskultur, wenn Geschichte zunehmend zur Ware wird? Kann es sich weiterhin als der erste Ort authentischer Geschichtsvermittlung behaupten?
