    Abstract: "This book explores the role of feminist activists in The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and highlights the progress they have made in mainstreaming gender as a key issue in global climate governance. It is now commonplace for gender to be framed as a political issue in global climate politics within academic scholarship, but there is typically a lack of robust empirical analysis of existing advocacy approaches. Filling this lacuna, Joanna Flavell interrogates the political strategies of the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) in the UNFCCC (The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). Through a conceptual framework that integrates climate change with intersectional critical inquiry and political practice, Flavell analyses hundreds of historical documents, coupled with interviews and observations from two UNFCCC conferences. This research uncovers a so-far untold story about the history of the UNFCCC that foregrounds gender and feminist advocacy, highlighting the importance of the WGC in shaping dominant narratives of global climate governance through a series of rhetorical and procedural strategies. Overall, the book draws important conclusions around power in global climate governance and opens up new avenues for advancing a feminist green politics. Basierend auf Umfragedaten sowie Fokusgruppendiskussionen wird in diesem Buch gezeigt, dass Erwartungen auf den Zugang zu urbaner Bürgerschaft trotz der wiederholt erfahrenen Frustration eben dieser Erwartungen steigen, obwohl soziales Vertrauen in informellen Siedlungen gering bleibt und obwohl unter Bewohner:innen informeller Siedlungen meist keine starke Bindung an die Stadt empfunden wird. Es kann damit erstmals gezeigt werden, dass unter Menschen in Kenias urbaner Informalität nicht nur Erwartungen, sondern Ansprüche auf Zugang zu Bürgerschaft zunehmen. Urbane Informalität in Kenia prägt damit Bürgerschaft auf spezifische Art und Weise.
    Abstract: Access to the social and political means of citizenship is a distinct expectation of those living and working in Nairobi’s urban informality. In an empirical analysis based on original survey data comparing rural and urban Kenya and focus-group discussions in informal settlements of Nairobi, this book shows that expectations of accessing public goods were high when people first arrived in the city and rose over time among dwellers in Nairobi’s urban informality, despite previous repeated frustrations of such expectations as well as strong attachments to rural areas. The book demonstrates that urban informality distinctly shapes citizenship.

    Abstract: "By examining Black mixed-race identities in the city through a series of historical vantage points, Making Mixed Race provides in-depth insights into the geographical and historical contexts that shape the possibilities and constraints for identifications. Whilst popular representations of mixed-race often conceptualise it as a contemporary phenomenon and are couched in discourses of futurity, this book dislodges it from the current moment, to explore its emergence as a racialised category, and personal identity, over time. In addition to tracing the temporality of mixed-race, the contributions show the utility of place as an analytical tool for mixed-race studies. The conceptual framework for the book - place, time, and personal identity - offers a timely intervention to the scholarship that encourages us to look outside of individual subjectivities and critically examine the structural contexts that shape Black mixed-race lives. The book centres around the life histories of 37 people of Mixed White and Black Caribbean heritage born between 1959 and 1994, in Britain's second-largest city, Birmingham. The intimate life portraits of mixed identity, reveal how colourism, family, school, gender, whiteness, racism, and resistance, have been experienced against the backdrop of post-war immigration, Thatcherism, the ascendency of Black diasporic youth cultures, and contemporary post-race discourses.     Abstract: This anthology addresses the question of how anti-Semitism appears and is expressed in modern music. As a ‘negative guiding idea of modernity’, anti-Semitism can be found in all musical genres and is conveyed on different levels, be it through song lyrics, album covers, music videos, stage performances, through the musical form or style itself, or the ideological and structural integration of musicians into the extreme rightwing scene, all the way to the influence of entire music scenes through the anti-Semitic BDS campaign. By questioning the knowledge of climate change and subsequent labelling of people, this book will spark debate in studies of global climate politics and transnational policy network. Rather than considering the issue of climate change as a given phenomenon, the author explores how the politicized knowledge of climate change has been produced in international negotiations and how that knowledge is transmitted from global forums to local country levels via climate change action plans and resilience projects. This book introduces the concept of multi-scalar knowledge brokers (MKBs) - individual actors who work at multiple levels (local, national, and international) to transmit the knowledge of climate change from global level to local level. Zahlen, Daten, Fakten werden präzise eingeordnet und mit Einzelberichten kontrastiert. Ein Wegweiser für den Abbau von Vorurteilen und ein gelungenes Miteinander in der Migrationsgesellschaft.
    Abstract: How do refugee women live, what resources do they have and what challenges do they face? This book provides insights into the lives of female refugees in Austria, who are growing in number but remain largely invisible in public discourse. Drawing on data from a mixed-methods survey, the authors analyse refugees’ social contacts, education and educational aspirations, participation in the labour market, experiences of discrimination and the role of the family and family work in successful integration. Figures, data and facts are presented in great detail and contrasted with personal accounts. This book serves as a guide to countering prejudices and fostering peaceful coexistence in our modern migration society.

    Abstract: Das Werk behandelt das Tragen eines Kopftuchs durch Lehrerinnen und Schülerinnen in der öffentlichen Verwaltung und in der Justiz. Eingehend behandelt werden die Interpretation des muslimischen Kopftuchs (Symbol der Unterdrückung von Frauen und des politischen Islam?) und das Neutralitätsgebot aus verfassungsrechtlicher und sozialwissenschaftlicher Sicht. Untersucht wird die Entwicklung des laizistischen Modells in Frankreich und der Versuch einer Übertragung dieses Modells auf Deutschland (Berliner Neutralitätsgesetz, Verbot des Kopftuchs von Schülerinnen). Auch das neue Bundesgesetz zum Erscheinungsbild von Beamtinnen und Beamten wird untersucht und auf die Notwendigkeit einer Neujustierung des überkommenen Neutralitätsverständnisses hingewiesen.
    Abstract: The work deals with the wearing of a headscarf by female teachers and students, in public administration and in the judiciary. The interpretation of the Muslim headscarf (symbol of the oppression of women and political Islam?) and the neutrality requirement from a constitutional and sociological perspective are dealt with in depth. The development of the laicist model in France and the attempt to transfer this model to Germany (Berlin neutrality law, ban on the headscarves for schoolgirls) are examined. The new federal law on the appearance of civil servants is also dealt with, as well as the need for a readjustment of the traditional understanding of neutrality.

    Abstract: This book critically reviews state-religion models and the ways in which different countries manage religious diversity, illuminating different responses to the challenges encountered in accommodating both majorities and minorities. The country cases encompass eight world regions and 23 countries, offering a wealth of research material suitable to support comparative research. Each case is analysed in depth looking at historical trends, current practices, policies, legal norms and institutions. By looking into state-religion relations and governance of religious diversity in regions beyond Europe, we gain insights into predominantly Muslim countries (Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia), countries with pronounced historical religious diversity (India and Lebanon) and into a predominantly migrant pluralist nation (Australia). These insights can provide a basis for re-thinking European models and learning from experiences of governing religious diversity in other socio-economic and geopolitical contexts. Key analytical and comparative reflections inform the introduction and concluding chapters. This volume offers a research and study companion to better understand the connection between state-religion relations and the governance of religious diversity in order to inform both policy and research efforts in accommodating religious diversity. Given its accessible language and further readings provided in each chapter, the volume is ideally suited for undergraduate and graduate students. It will also be a valuable resource for researchers working in the wider field of ethnic, migration, religion and citizenship studies

    Abstract: This publication presents the results of a study on the integration of refugees into education, training and work in Berlin. The research is based on qualitative interviews with refugees and representa-tives of schools, companies, civil society projects and administrative bodies. The study analyses factors that both support and hinder refugees’ integration into training and work, and discusses related measures of integration management.
