Abstract: "Twenty years have passed since the 1989 U.S. invasion that toppled Panama's military regime and initiated a period of democratization. This book represents the most comprehensive and empirically grounded analysis of the institutional and attitudinal factors that have shaped Panamanian politics since the invasion. Using quantitative and qualitative methods the book traces the development of the Panamanian nation-state from its early days after independence from Colombia, to the struggles to build democracy after the U.S. invasion, through the presidential elections of May 2009. The study makes use of extensive interviews with political and economic elites, as well as the most comprehensive series of public opinion surveys ever conducted in Panama. As such, they provide a wealth of data on democratic values and allow placing Panama in a comparative perspective"--

Abstract: This book takes the political theory of intersectionality - the most cutting-edge approach to the politics of gender, race, sexual orientation, and class - and introduces it to the general public for the first time.
Abstract: There are 84 million members of the Millennial Generation. Scholars agree that they are far more engaged politically and have far more progressive views on race, class, and gender and sexual orientation issues than Generation Xers or Baby Boomers. These young Americans are clearly ready for a new kind of politics, but what can they use as a bridge to get away from the politics of fear, disgust, and negativity that they dislike so much? This book takes the political theory of intersectionality - the most cutting-edge approach to the politics of gender, race, sexual orientation, and class - and

Abstract: Olof Palme (Sweden), Olusegun Obasanjo (Nigeria), and Indira Gandhi (India) achieved the pinnacle of political power, fell from or relinquished power, and then, after a period in the political wilderness, regained it. By placing greater emphasis than that customarily accorded by biographers on the "interment" that followed their "fall" and preceded their "resurrection," the book describes how what they did, the lessons they learned, and the mistakes made by their successors facilitated their reentry
