Abstract: This book provides an overview of a wide range of relevant applications and reveals how to solve them. Many of the latest applications in finance, technology, education, medicine and other important and relevant fields are data-driven. The volumes of data are enormous. Specific methods need to be developed or adapted to solve a particular problem. It illustrates data science in applications. These applications have in common the discovery of knowledge in data and the use of this knowledge to make real decisions. The set of examples presented serves as a recipe book for their direct application to similar problems or as a guide for the development of new, more sophisticated approaches. The intended readership is data scientists looking for appropriate solutions to their problems. In addition, the examples provided serves as material for lectures at universities.

Abstract: This book presents a wide and comprehensive spectrum of issues and problems related to fractional-order dynamical systems. It is meant to be a full-fledge, comprehensive presentation of many aspects related to the broadly perceived fractional-order dynamical systems which constitute an extension of the traditional integer-order-type descriptions. This implies far-reaching consequences, both analytic and algorithmic, because—in general—properties of the traditional integer-order systems cannot be directly extended by a straightforward generalization to fractional-order systems, modeled by fractional-order differential equations involving derivatives of an non-integer order. This can be useful for describing and analyzing, for instance, anomalies in the behavior of various systems, chaotic behavior, etc. The book contains both analytic contributions with state-of-the-art and theoretical foundations, algorithmic implementation of tools and techniques, and—finally—some examples of relevant and successful practical applications.

Abstract: This book is composed of selected papers from the Sixteenth National Conference on Operational and Systems Research, BOS-2020, held on December 14-15, 2020, one of premiere conferences in the field of operational and systems research. The second is the Nineteenth International Workshop on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets and Generalized Nets, IWIFSGN 2020, held on December 10-11, 2020, in Warsaw, Poland, in turn—one of premiere conferences on fuzzy logic, notably on extensions of the traditional fuzzy sets, also comprising a considerable part on the generalized nets (GNs), an important extension of the traditional Petri nets. A joint publication of selected papers from the two conferences follows a long tradition of such a joint organization and—from a substantial point of view—combines systems modeling, systems analysis, broadly perceived operational research, notably optimization, decision making, and decision support, with various aspects of uncertain and imprecise information and their related tools and techniques.

Abstract: This book aims to contribute to the discussion about the implications of fuzzy logic, neural networks, digital era, and other intelligent techniques on organizations. This book will be very useful for academic researchers and postgraduate students aiming to introduce themselves to the field of quantitative techniques for overcoming uncertain environments and developing models to make decisions. Developments in other theories and socioeconomic and computational changes have shed light on the importance of fuzzy applications in social sciences. The treatment of uncertainty in the economic and business analysis is fundamental and requires instruments compatible with the uncertain environment of economics and business, because most of the traditional models have been overtaken by this reality when trying to make decisions with uncertain information. In the face of information technology, digitization, and uncertainty, organizations confront new opportunities and challenges. In order to take advantage of these opportunities and overcome current and future challenges, it is needed to understand the evolution of these phenomenon.

Abstract: This book, dedicated to Professor Georgi M. Dimirovski on his anniversary, contains new research directions, challenges, and many relevant applications related to many aspects within the broadly perceived areas of systems and control, including signal analysis and intelligent systems. The project comprises two volumes with papers written by well known and very active researchers and practitioners. The first volume is focused on more foundational aspects related to general issues in systems science and mathematical systems, various problems in control and automation, and the use of computational and artificial intelligence in the context of systems modeling and control. The second volume is concerned with a presentation of relevant applications, notably in robotics, computer networks, telecommunication, fault detection/diagnosis, as well as in biology and medicine, and economic, financial, and social systems too. .

Abstract: This book is open access, which means that you have free and unlimited access. This book presents the Proceedings of the 9th Machine Intelligence and Digital Interaction Conference. Significant progress in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its wider use in many interactive products are quickly transforming further areas of our life, which results in the emergence of various new social phenomena. Many countries have been making efforts to understand these phenomena and find answers on how to put the development of artificial intelligence on the right track to support the common good of people and societies. These attempts require interdisciplinary actions, covering not only science disciplines involved in the development of artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction but also close cooperation between researchers and practitioners. For this reason, the main goal of the MIDI conference held on 9-10.12.2021 as a virtual event is to integrate two, until recently, independent fields of research in computer science: broadly understood artificial intelligence and human-technology interaction. .
