Kurzfassung: Oomph' is a book about the women who brought on a revolution in Swedish kitchens, linen closets, living rooms, and in the country's textile and fashion industries. With their work in glass, textiles, and ceramics, and their radical ideas about the future of domestic life, they put Sweden on the industrial design map in the middle of the twentieth century. Many women designers were engaged in the increasingly acute housing crisis, and questioned the way homes were traditionally designed. After the Second World War, new manufacturing opportunities emerged: new customs demanded new designs and materials. But many doors still remained closed to women designers

Kurzfassung: "A new wave of African creatives is on the rise and making a name for itself in design, fashion, photography, and architecture across Africa and abroad. While colors, patterns, and crafts are profoundly rooted in African tradition, young designers infuse their creations with a delightfully discordant edge making them contemporary, unique, and truly authentic pieces of African design."--back cover
Kurzfassung: Africa's young, self-confident creative scene is attracting worldwide attention and its work is showing the continent in a new light. Its dynamic design and fashion, as well as the products of its other creative industries, constantly surprise with their unique combination of innovation and tradition. African design, like hat of other regions, often reflects or acts as a catalyst for social and economic developments. Interdisciplinary artists such as Die Antwoord and Xander Ferreira have made names for themselves well beyond Africa's borders. Their work and that of their contemporaries redefines African creativity and calls stereotypes and clichés into question. 'Africa Rising' is a compelling exploration of this scene's talented pioneers and their outstanding projects
