Abstract:
This book is intended to familiarize planners, policy makers, donor agencies, agriculturists, researchers, implementators, university professors, change agents and farmers with the direction of development efforts between 1851 and 1990.This book covers many aspects of Nepal's development in general and agricultural developemt in particular. Whether development efforts made were on an ad hoc basis or in a planned way, the benefits of development were not equitably shared by farmers living in different agro-ecological regions of the country.Inspite of various strategies adopted in Nepal's periodic plans, why have not farmers of the different agro-ecological regions equitably benefited? This is the main query of the author, for several years, as a developement practitioner. This, indeed, is because of the lopsided approach of Nepal's past development endeavours infers Mr. Chitrakar. The limitation in our development efforts will not go away, by themself they are not discussed and done away with claims Mr. Chitrakar. Here, the author raises several development policy issues and has also offered several new strategy options, in spreading the development benefits to farmers, scattered in all the ecologial regions of Nepal.
