Abstract: This book explores a suite of spatially close San (Bushmen) rock painting sites in the Maclear District of South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. The notion of community is a utopian ideal based on the prospect of authentic contiguity as well as the feeling of social security. The promise of community harbours the prospect of overcoming the conflicts of modern societies, i.e. the individuals' egoistic interests as well as the contradictions of capitalism and bureaucracy. The romantic dream of a ,,true community" takes shape in the 19th century and plays a crucial rule in the formation of the (pedagogical) reform movement. This dream or ideal of an originary and immediate community aims at authenticity and harmony in order to ensure the holistic development of children. The ideal community is

Abstract: How do we prepare for and manage the challenges and the transformations that are increasingly confronting cities? Solutions are necessary for the impacts expected from the global population movement toward urban centres; the evolution of technologies and its influence on the economy; the evolving socio-cultural fabric of our cities and what it means for citizen engagement and happiness; and for the increasing need to protect and better manage the environment. The series of essays presented here will help governments, organizations, and concerned citizens think differently about ways we can improve the places we call home. It will stimulate local stakeholders to move away from silo-thinking and work collaboratively toward innovative solutions to make cities more liveable and sustainable. The volume brings together international experts on development, innovation, education, health, digitalization, and planning to provide stimulating new ideas and successful examples of tools and systems being used worldwide to improve the future of cities.

Abstract: The internet can be amazing - it helps you talk to friends and family that live far away, and you can also play games and learn all sorts of fun things. The internet can also be a bit like a puddle - there are some puddles that are fun to play in, but others are much too deep and aren't safe. It is important to stay in the right part of the internet. This series deals with emotive issues that children face in direct and gentle terms, allowing children's feelings and problems to be more easily shared and discussed with family and friends. Author Shona Innes is a qualified clinical and forensic psychologist with many years of experience assisting children.

Abstract: This book challenges received mainstream and scholarly ideas about how and why child abuse occurs and offers fresh ideas about understanding how we can enhance young people's agency and can make a difference to their lives by ensuring they have an opportunity to grow up developing their own voices and identities, free from adult coercion. The purpose of this edited collection is to bring interdisciplinary research around the high profile subject of child sexual abuse and look closely at why public concern and awareness is often diverted away from the real issues at stake. It challenges the notion that 'sexting' and online pornography are playing a key role in grooming young people for abuse. It also looks empirically at the evidence for the cycle-of abuse theory, why young people so often fail to speak out and the role that legal and media discourses play in framing the way we understand child sexual abuse.
