Abstract: The transformations of society contemporary and particularly those resulting from the revolution which took place on 25 April 1974 were decisive in taking on a new relationship between Portugal and the young African Portuguese speaking countries. A secular history united us, marked by political, economic, social and cultural ties that need to be recontextualized without undermining the exceptional common cultural heritage. In this area, the Anthropological Museum of the University of Coimbra timely recognized the importance of the collection - bibliographic, ethnographic and audio-visual - resulting from the scientific and cultural activity developed by the former Diamang and, at the time (1986), property of the Portuguese Society of Enterprises. […]Motivated by these premises, we formalized the research project «Study of the Cultural Heritage of the former Diamond Company of Angola: a contribution to inter-ethnic dialogue and rapprochement with Portuguese-speaking African Countries», submitted to the National Board of Scientific and Technological Research and by the same body approved at the end of 1987. The main objective of the proposal was to "scientifically investigate and pedagogically value the ex-Diamang's estate", which should be immediately transferred to the Anthropological Museum of the University of Coimbra, since it was the empirical basis of the studies. planned. Difficulties in implementing the project were decisive in the orientation and objectives of this publication as a research tool, perhaps the first to be considered by the researcher in addressing the estate. This is admittedly a formal survey of the material that, since 1989, been available to the project team, i.e. the collection ethnographic, the core designated audio-visual and important set of reports and memos relating to activities scientific and cultural of the Diamond Company of Angola. This situation justifies the incidence in those, in contrast to the brief note on the bibliographic material, since it was only transferred to Coimbra in 1993. Their size and recognized importance, even at the international level, led us to act immediately in the technical fields of preservation and registration - practice, moreover, followed in the remaining nuclei, according to the specificity of the support materials and state of conservation - delaying, for obvious reasons, the exhaustive publication of the bibliographic catalog. The publication Diamang: A Study of the Cultural Heritage of the former Angolan Diamond Company should therefore be understood as a thematic inventory through which the valuable and sometimes unpublished documentation gathered over the last decades has been methodologically explicit remarkable time of the Portuguese colonial phenomenon. It is, therefore, a complex and multidisciplinary archive of documentary sources, potentially subsidiary to various scientific disciplines, but itself by the nature of prevailing ideology, which may be the object of study. Abstract: From a first attempt to gather fundamental bibliography for anthropological research in Angola came out in 1983 an interim text. With the contribution of more collaborators and completing and updating this first text now comes this version of "Angola: anthropological bibliography", a working tool that we hope will be useful to many of our research colleagues. The print run has been purposely limited as an update as possible permanent. In this sense all suggestions and possible corrections will be welcomed so that all Africanists who are interested in anthropological research about Angola is available a working tool which is not exhaustive already represents very diverse information in the field of anthropological sciences. In addition to renewing its thanks to her first-hour colleague, Isilda Figueiras, I want to extend them to the researchers who have joined this work and have contributed, each with their share, to the preparation of this bibliography. The film focuses on identity and discrimination in the daily lives of transgendered Brazilians living in São Paulo. Fabia Mirassos projects her life through the role of Meg, a transsexual hairdresser confronting intolerance and re-living memories of abuse.

Abstract: Everyone knows the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. But, have you heard of a small Polish town named Oświęcim? A young team of filmmakers arrives at this site, where a bizarre memory conflict between Polish and Jewish remembrances on the Holocaust takes place. The filmmakers find themselves caught in the crossfire of the conflict's parties. While the Jews want to defend their right of memory connected to the sites of the camps, the Poles just want a normal life. Is it really that simple? Is Auschwitz primarily a site of Polish suffering? Do Jewish Holocaust survivors have the right to dispel the Polish inhabitants of apartments on the camp's grounds by force? Or do the Poles have the right to locate their settlements and wheat fields above the ashes of tens of thousands of gassed and burned Jews?

Abstract: Between two Villages tells the story of Aldeia da Luz, population of 330, bound to disappear with the construction of the Alqueva dam in the south of Portugal. A new village is being built a few kilometres away as a compensation for the population. The film focuses on the daily life of Aldeia da Luz, with its strong rural tradition and its prospect of change. From the negotiations to the construction of the new houses, the film shows how the authorities and the population try to recreate the village identity. The situation of the village of Aldaia da Luz reflects a mutating society.

Keywords: Carnival Competitions ; Carnival ; Ireland ; Documentary television programs.
Abstract: Examines the traditional annual Brazilian carnival where rival groups dress up in costumes and choose a carnival king and queen. It examines the history and roots of the custom, which was introduced for the slaves in the 17th century, but which was also intermerged with a festival for a West African god, master of rebellion, chaos and revellry. Divination, sacrifice, spirit possession and withcraft are also elements that play a part in the carnival.

Keywords: Spirit possession Case studies. ; Umbanda (Cult) ; Canada ; Documentary films.
Abstract: Umbanda is a syncretic religious movement, combining elements from orthodox Catholicism with submerged African and indigenous Indian spiritual beliefs. In spite of past attempts to suppress it, Umbanda flourishes in the heterogeneous culture of contemporary urban Brazil. The film somewhat ambitiously seeks to give an exposition of the eclectic repertoire of the Umbanda movement. There is lengthy coverage of ritual performances, including interviews with mediums and their clients, which emphasise the role the movement plays in the management of personal malaise and affliction experienced as a by-product of change and urbanisation. The concluding sequences of the Sea Goddess, Yemenya – identified with the Virgin Mary – show the annual Umbanda festival where half a million participants from all over the country assemble on the beaches of Säo Paulo. The film's strength lies in its graphic footage of spiritual possession and healing but it has been criticised for not providing a fuller account of the functioning of Umbanda groups, and the movement's articulation with the political authorities in Brazil.
