Abstract:
"This book's opening statements are formed by the perception and projection of postcolonial Nigeria's narratives. Nigeria, like most African states after their independence, has experienced subversions, extensions, and even new projections of narratives pertinent to its survival and development. Narratives are potent, flexible devices that endure the rigorous work of organizing experiences, fashioning collective identities, and projecting sociocultural realities. Here, the postcolonial is charged with multiple meanings, spiraling beyond the notion of temporality - indicating the post-independent period - to broadly include discourse related to and following colonialism.1 Postcolonial thinking is evident in the political, economic, and socio-cultural narratives of Nigeria that express ideologies for independence, self-awareness, and collective development"--
