    Abstract: Welche Rolle spielen thematisierte Räume bei der Konstruktion sozialer und kultureller Identitäten? Jan-Erik Steinkrügers Studie zeigt am Beispiel der historischen Entwicklung von Zoos und Vergnügungsparks: Die Darstellungspraxis ist abhängig vom Habitus ihrer Klientel. Neben der Darstellungsform geraten vor allem die Darstellungsinhalte in den Blick. Es zeigt sich, dass diese Themenwelten, für die besonders Carl Hagenbeck und Walt Disney stilprägend waren, Bilder anderer Welten (re-)produzieren. Die Trias von sozialer, kultureller und räumlicher Differenz steht damit im Zentrum der Analyse und trägt zugleich zum Verständnis von Freizeit und Tourismus allgemein bei - denn Themenwelten sind die von allem Störenden befreite Version des touristischen Blicks

    Abstract: Die Indigenenbewegung ist trotz ihrer enormen Diversität ein wichtiger sozialer Akteur in der ecuadorianischen Gesellschaft. Seit einer Sattelzeit zwischen Mitte der 1970er und Mitte der 1980er Jahre hat sie einen Diskurs herausgebildet, der identitäre mit klassistischen Positionen verbindet und um die politischen Begriffe indigene Nationalität, Territorialität, Plurinationalität, Interkulturalität und Gutes Leben herum aufgebaut ist. Philipp Altmann zeigt, wie sich dieser Diskurs gegen die koloniale Strukturierung der Gesellschaft und ihre Auswirkungen - wie etwa Diskriminierung und Ungleichheit - wendet und daher dekolonial zu verstehen ist

Königtümer gelten bis heute als eine Form politischer Kultur, auch wenn ihre Legitimation in der Moderne ständig in Frage gestellt wird. Seit der strukturellen Krise und dem Rückzug des Staates kehren die Könige von Uganda auf ihre Throne zurück. Einst dem Nationalstaat geopfert, gelten sie nun als Hüter von Traditionen und Kultur - und als »Krisenmanager«. Was aber macht sie heute noch zu Königen? Gelten sie weiterhin als sakral?
