    Abstract: In "China, East Asia and the European Union" specialist authors from both Europe and Asia reflect on the dynamic relationship between the three actors from an International Relations perspective. The book is a testimony to China's seemingly unstoppable rise, both in the East Asian region and in the relationship with the EU and its member states. The authors investigate why the economic links between the European Union and East Asia have become so firmly established, while in comparison the political bond has remained underdeveloped. They conclude that the crises the EU is currently facing seriously affect its manoeuvring space vis-a-vis China and its neighbours, both economically and politically

    Abstract: In China: Promise or Threat? Helle compares the cultures of China and the West through both private and public spheres. For China, the private sphere of family life is well developed while behaviour in public relating to matters of government and the law is less reliable. In contrast, the West operates in reverse.     Abstract: Historically, entrepreneurs have always played a central role in the development of nation states. Aside from rentier states, which depend extensively on the availability of mineral resource rents, most economically prosperous nations in the world have strong, innovative and competitive business enterprises and entrepreneurs as the bedrock of their economic development and prosperity. It was arguably because of the above historical fact that the World Bank in 1989 declared that entrepreneurs will play a central role in transforming African economies. Wie wäre es, wenn Sie uns einfach alle Fragen mailen? Dann kann der Vertrieb das selbst einteilen.Vollmers: Schriftlich ... das wäre sehr ungünstig. Einmal, weil es umständlich ist, und dann, weil man so oft nachhaken muss.Koch: Machen wir einen Kompromiss: Sie kriegen einen Teamleiter für die Meetings. Der kann dann ja Multiplikator für die anderen sein. Und den Rest machen wir unter uns aus. Ich kenne das System ja auch.Vollmers: Herr Koch, es geht gar nicht um einen Kompromiss. Wir brauchen einfach feste Projektmitglieder, die auch bei allen Meetings mit dabei sind. Die sollen später dann ja auch „Superuser" sein und die anderen Mitarbeiter einweisen. Von der Testphase mal abgesehen.Koch: Das kriegen wir schon alles hin! Geben Sie mir mal die Daten für die Meetings, und dann sehen wir weiter.   So bewertet der Experte Das war nicht gut von Birgit Vollmers: Sie hat zwar einige zutreffende Argumente, bringt diese aber nicht zur Geltung. Der Einstiegssatz ist zu schwach. Dass Frau Vollmers eher zurückhaltend ist und eine leise Stimme hat, macht nichts, solange ihre Sprechweise das nicht noch unterstützt. Dass die Teamleiter „am besten geeignet wären", ist zu vage. Entweder sie hat klarere Vorstellungen, dann muss sie das auch so formulieren. Oder aber sie hat keine, dann hat sie sich auf das Gespräch schlecht vorbereitet.Wenngleich Frau Vollmers auf den - berechtigten - Einwand Herrn Kochs bezüglich des Alltagsgeschäfts zutreffend eingeht, wäre ein lösungsorientiertes Argument angebrachter, wie Projektarbeit und Alltagsgeschäft in Einklang gebracht werden können. Ein derartiger Vorschlag fehlt bei Frau Vollmers jedoch.Wieder antwortet Frau Vollmers zu passiv: Natürlich ist

    Abstract: This book conceptualizes integration and conflict as interrelated dimensions of social interaction, social relationships and alliances, identifications and identity constructions within society at large. In order to reach an in-depth understanding of integrative and violent forms of interaction in the region of the Upper Guinea Coast, authors take into account the impact and repercussions of specific historical experiences as well as the continuities and changes of social patterns affected by the interaction of local and globalized values, institutions, and models of social organization. Rather than providing an(other) analysis of wars and violence as such, contributors aim at a better understanding of the social mechanisms that affect both the processes of integration and conflict at the local, national and regional levels
