Abstract:
Ein signifikanter Faktor des (Wieder-)Aufstiegs der Großmächte Asiens sind deren endogene politisch-kulturellen Ressourcen. Das politisch-strategische Denken und Handeln der aufstrebenden Großmacht Indien ist ohne den fortwirkenden Einfluss des Arthashastra – 'Lehrbuch der Politik' – des Kautilya nicht zu verstehen.Das um 320 v. Chr. entstandene Werk ist ein Klassiker der „realistischen“ Staatstheorie und Staatskunst – vergleichbar mit den Werken des Sun-Tzu oder Machiavellis. Als erster westlicher Sozialwissenschaftler erkannte Max Weber die Bedeutung Kautilyas. Die Studie gibt einen inhaltlichen Einblick in das Kautilya-Arthashastra und analysiert den latenten und den manifesten Einfluss seiner Ideengehalte in der indischen Strategic Community. Das Arthashastra ist ein integraler Bestandteil der politisch-strategischen Kultur Indiens, in der Tradition und Moderne eine singuläre Symbiose bilden
