Abstract:
Die erste deutsche Frauenärztin beschreibt den schweren Anfang für Frauen in deutschen Universitäten und im ärztlichen Berufsleben, den Kampf gegen den § 218 und die Gründung des deutschen Ärztinnenbundes. Der Nachdruck 2012 ist identisch mit der vergriffenen 3. Auflage von 2005, die gegenüber der Erstauflage von 1995 um zahlreiche Fotos, Dokumente und biographische Informationen ergänzt worden war und nun als Paperback erscheint
Abstract:
Dr. med. Hermine Heusler-Edenhuizen war die erste Frauenärztin, die in Deutschland gearbeitet hat. Ihren überaus mühsamen Weg zunächst zum Abitur und dann durch das Studium und ihre beruflichen Anfänge in einer ausschließlich von Männern bevölkerten ärztlichen Welt bis zur eigenständigen Praxis in Berlin, ihr politisches Engagement in der Frauenbewegung der Weimarer Republik, die schwierige Zeit im Dritten Reich und danach beschreibt die humorvolle, durchsetzungsfähige und zielstrebige Ärztin in ihrer Autobiographie. Dr. Heusler-Edenhuizen war Mitbegründerin, ihre Adoptivtochter später Präsidentin des Deutschen Ärztinnenbundes. Der Band wurde von ihrem Enkel editiert und herausgegeben und so gut lesbar, dass er sich auch als Weihnachtsgeschenk und als Feierabendlektüre eignet.
