Abstract: "To this day, there persists a widespread assumption that Adorno's references to Marx - and especially to Marx's critique of political economy - represent a relic from an early and short-lived stage of Adorno's theoretical development. On the basis of relevant and largely unpublished textual sources, this book refutes this thesis while showing that the centre of Adorno's critical theory of society is occupied by a critique not only of political economy, but of economy in general"--

Abstract: This volume focuses on nationality's efficacy in much of world affairs, and on the background and current issues surrounding global crisis. As one of the most famous Marxist revolutionaries, Rosa Luxemburg vigorously promoted her own conceptions, often opposing Lenin, her contemporary. In this volume, Narihiko Ito offers a much needed, extensive analysis of her position. This is followed by a critique of the current Iranian conjuncture, offered by Farhang Morady. The development of crises in capitalism is addressed both directly and indirectly within the volume. Alan Freeman argues the need to extricate French positivism from the Marxism that developed after Marx whilstRadhika Desai highlights renewed consideration of the major role of consumption demand in Marxist theory and considers implications for the current crisis. The volume continues with Karen Petersens analysis of the post-WWII developments of major currencies and Fabien Tarrit considers capitalism as an inherently unstable system, requiring a focus on its rate of profit. The final chapter by Jorgen Sandemose presents a careful argument offering notions of the origins of Marxs Capital culminating in an engaging volume that addresses The National Question and the Question of Crisis

Abstract: Der Kulturarbeitsmarkt expandiert, die Nachfrage nach kulturnahen Dienstleistungen wächst. Kulturelle und künstlerische Kompetenzen werden zu einer wichtigen Innovationskraft im gesellschaftlichen Strukturwandel. Innerhalb des Kultursektors zeigt sich ein klarer Trend: weg vom öffentlich finanzierten Bereich hin zur Kulturwirtschaft - und dabei vor allem hin zu selbstständiger Tätigkeit in kleinen Unternehmen.Was diese »neuen Kulturunternehmer« auszeichnet - was sie motiviert, was ihre Ziele sind, welche neuen Formen kultureller Dienstleistungen sie anbieten und welche Strategien ihnen zum Erfolg verhelfen -, wird auf der Grundlage einer empirischen Untersuchung erstmalig praxisnah dargestellt. Interviews mit Kulturunternehmern zeigen exemplarisch die Risiken und Chancen von Unternehmensgründungen im Kulturbereich auf. Ein Serviceteil liefert darüber hinaus praktische Hinweise für eigene Existenzgründungsvorhaben

Abstract: Freedom, Sen argues, is both the end and most efficient means of sustaining economic life and the key to securing the general welfare of the world's entire population. Releasing the idea of individual freedom from association with any particular historical, intellectual, political, or religious tradition, Sen clearly demonstrates its current applicability and possibilities. In the new global economy, where, despite unprecedented increases in overall opulence, the contemporary world denies elementary freedoms to vast numbers--perhaps even the majority of people--he concludes, it is still possible to practically and optimistically restain a sense of social accountability
