Abstract:
El complejo entramado social iberoamericano se desvela ante nosotros a través del imaginario familiar. Individuos, familias y redes vinculares despliegan una diversidad de estrategias y mecanismos para construir y resignificar sus identidades. Las sociedades coloniales se muestran dinámicas, permeables, fluctuantes, con alteridades identitarias como resultado de negociaciones colectivas. Los lindes entre lo legítimo, lo ilegítimo, lo público, lo privado, la sexualidad, la deslealtad, la indisciplina, los muros de un convento, de un cuartel o de una ciudad se tornan difusos, profusos, variables. El paisaje humano variopinto y heterogéneo evidencia un mestizaje biológico a la vez que cultural y social, donde el mestizo genera un nuevo orden social. Las identidades fluctúan, no constituyen categorías jerarquizadas, son ante todo constructos sociales elaborados a partir de estrategias familiares y relacionales. Este libro permitirá al lector acerarse a estas reflexiones a partir de estudios concretos de realidades sociales iberoamericanas coloniales de diversos sectores sociales y económicos. Los autores pretenden generar un espacio de debate y crítica en torno al papel del individuo, la familia y las redes vinculares en el mundo colonial, prestando especial interés a la conformación del ser iberoamericano a uno y otro lado del Atlántico.
