About this book

This textbook is the first to provide an introduction to the sociology of social robotics. This field does not just deal with the development of social robots and their consequences, but also with the question of what constitutes sociality and under what conditions machines can participate in it. Social robots are thus not just innovative communication technologies, but also raise fundamental questions about the limits of sociality.

Florian Muhle ist Professor für Kommunikationswissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt Digitale Kommunikation an der Zeppelin Universität in Friedrichshafen. Ein Schwerpunkt seiner Forschung liegt auf der theoretischen und empirischen Auseinandersetzung mit verschiedenen Formen der ‚Automatisierung der Kommunikation‘. Neben der sozialen Robotik befasst er sich in diesem Zusammenhang u. a. mit algorithmischer Steuerung von Onlinekommunikation und dem Einsatz sog. Socialbots in sozialen Medien.
