Abstract: | In China, 'The Saizhuang Festival' of the Yi ethnic group literally means 'the attire-competing festival' in the Yi language. This book - written in an English-Chinese bilingual text - introduces the festival's origin, dissemination, traditional contents, and forms in modern times, in order to generate a panoramic view for the culture of the Yi people. The festival is not only a grandiose party of the Yi people, but is also the epitome of their characteristic lives. During the festival, they have competitions in many areas, ranging from the performing arts, such as singing and dancing, to tasty cuisine, Yi liquor, embroidery art, costume-making, and symbolic pictograph writing. All elements of this ethnic group's culture are incarnated and can be found represented in 'The Saizhuang Festival.'
