Ein Mann bereitet aus Mehl, Salz und Wasser Teig für drei Brote. Sein Gehilfe erhitzt drei Steine, um die der Teig gelegt und zu Kugeln geformt wird. Die teils am Feuer, teils auf dem erhitzten Erdboden von innen und von außen gebackenen Brote sind gar, wenn man die eingebackenen Steine klappern hört. Das aufgebrochene Brot wird in Öl getaucht und verzehrt.

After igniting a wood fire the baker prepares the dough for three loaves in a tin bowl from flour, salt, and water. His apprentice maintains the fire and heats three stones around which the dough is placed and formed into balls. The loaves bake partially on the fire, partially on the heated earth and from inside and out. They are finished as soon as one hears the stones rattling when shook. After removal of soiled parts and burned spots the bread is broken open and eaten dipped in oil. At the beginning and end of baking the baker cleans his hands and the bowl with water.
