This singing mask with its beak-shaped nose, from which a black beard of monkey-hair hangs down, is found in other functions as well, e. g. with the Konor tribe as one of the highest ranking spirits in the boys's circumcision camp. In Maple village it is explained as a Tukan mask. The Tukan is the king of the birds and is supposed to have brought the oil-palm to the Dan. Therefore the Tukan is mentioned in the songs of the mask.
