Abstract: Re-engaging with Sustainability in the Anthropocene Era applies organization theory to a grand challenge: our entry into the Anthropocene era, a period marked not only by human impact on climate change, but on chemical waste, habitat destruction, and despeciation. It focuses on institutional theory, modified by political readings of organizations, as one approach that can help us navigate a new course. Besides offering mechanisms, such as institutional entrepreneurship, social movements, and policy shifts, the institutional-political variant developed here helps analysts understand the framing of scientific facts, the counter-mobilization of skeptics, and the creation of archetypes as new social orders

Abstract: The engaged scholar -- Limitations of the academic reward system -- The rules of engagement -- The scholarly uses of social media -- Engagement and the arc of your career.
Abstract: "Society and democracy are ever threatened by the fall of fact. Rigorous analysis of facts, the hard boundary between truth and opinion, and fidelity to reputable sources of factual information are all in alarming decline. A 2018 report published by the RAND Corporation lay the challenge of fixing this "truth decay" at the door of the academy, but, as Andrew J. Hoffman points out, academia is prevented from carrying this out due to its own existential crisis--a crisis of relevance. Scholarship rarely moves very far beyond the walls of the academy, and is certainly not accessing the primarily civic spaces it needs to be in in order to mitigate truth corruption. In this brief but compelling book, Hoffman draws upon existing literature and personal experience to bring attention to the problematic of academic insularity--where it comes from and where, if left to grow unchecked, it will go--and argues for the emergence of a more publicly and politically engaged scholar. This book is a call to make that path toward public engagement more acceptable and legitimate for those who do; to enlarge the tent to be inclusive of multiple ways that one enacts the role of academic scholar in today's world"--

Abstract: A cultural schism -- Social psychology and the climate change debate -- Sources of organized resistance -- Bridging the cultural schism -- Historical analogies for cultural change -- The full scope.
Abstract: Though the scientific community largely agrees that climate change is underway, debates about this issue remain fiercely polarized. These conversations have become a rhetorical contest, one where opposing sides try to achieve victory through playing on fear, distrust, and intolerance. At its heart, this split no longer concerns carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases, or climate modeling; rather, it is the product of contrasting, deeply entrenched worldviews. This brief examines what causes people to reject or accept the scientific consensus on climate change. Synthesizing evidence from sociology, psychology, and political science, Andrew J. Hoffman lays bare the opposing cultural lenses through which science is interpreted. He then extracts lessons from major cultural shifts in the past to engender a better understanding of the problem and motivate the public to take action. How Culture Shapes the Climate Change Debate makes a powerful case for a more scientifically literate public, a more socially engaged scientific community, and a more thoughtful mode of public discourse

Abstract: The fields of corporate environmentalism, green business and corporate sustainability have grown significantly over the past twenty-five years, such that the academic research domains of business decision-making, accounting, organizational behaviour, and the protection of the natural environment have developed into maturing areas of study within the management sciences. Business and the Natural Environment: A Research Overview is a summary of the research thus far on this topic, offering a structure for understanding its emergence and growth, the multiple facets that make up its present state and a glimpse into the future of where it may be going. Along the way, the authors provide a compendium of its important works to help situate the interested reader in the landscape of the field. One important element of this work is its topical relevance; issues of environmental protection (and more recently sustainability) are critically important in today's worlds of business, policy, and public understanding. Scholars who choose to enter this domain have much to offer of societal value while at the same time, entering a non-fully legitimate research stream that can lead to academic success (such as tenure). This shortform book provides a research map for both new scholars who wish to enter the field and more seasoned researchers who wish to understand one view of the landscape and how they might fit within it. This expert survey of the existing literature brings the research story into the age of the Anthropocene and is essential primary reading.

Abstract: In the first edition of this critically acclaimed book, Andrew Hoffman defined the three pillars of application security: reconnaissance, offense, and defense. In this revised and updated second edition, he examines dozens of related topics, from the latest types of attacks and mitigations to threat modeling, the secure software development lifecycle (SSDL/SDLC), and more. Hoffman, senior staff security engineer at Ripple, also provides information regarding exploits and mitigations for several additional web application technologies such as GraphQL, cloud-based deployments, content delivery networks (CDN) and server-side rendering (SSR).

Abstract: Książka systematyzuje wiedzę dotyczącą ataków hakerskich i technik zabezpieczania przed nimi aplikacji internetowych. Autor dogłębnie opisuje metody ataków na poziomie kodu i architektury systemu. Sporo uwagi poświęca eksperckim technikom prowadzenia rekonesansów, dzięki którym nawet bez wiedzy o strukturze i kodzie aplikacji można samodzielnie zrozumieć sposób jej działania i zidentyfikować wrażliwe punkty systemu. Następnie omawia różne techniki ataków, począwszy od łamania zwykłych zabezpieczeń, a skończywszy na metodach obchodzenia zaawansowanych mechanizmów obronnych. Kolejne rozdziały dotyczą zapobiegania włamaniom do systemu. Jednym z ciekawszych zagadnień jest ocena kompromisu pomiędzy zapewnieniem akceptowalnego poziomu bezpieczeństwa a kosztami i wydajnością użytkowania aplikacji. Poszczególne zagadnienia zostały ujęte w ciekawy sposób i przedstawione z kilku różnych punktów widzenia.
