Abstract: This text collects the revisions of some of the most significant degree theses written from 2011 to 2015 in the bachelor degree in City, territory and landscape planning and in the Master's degree in City and territory planning and design of University of Florence, Empoli campus. The theses cover the current diversified scenery of problems within the urban planning discipline, using very different methodologies, interpretations and perspectives of analysis. The territory emerging as the protagonist of the young authors' narratives is a complex and multi-layered object; it is constituted by things and relationships, set on the long times of history, aimed towards the present and projected into the future, and it continues to raise their questions, doubts, curiosities and also some fruitful answers. In summary, rather than chances for discussion on a disposable form of knowledge, this works offer chances for reflection and experimentation, and opportunities for the incremental construction of creative solutions by its authors

Abstract: Compositional and functional elements of the innovative architectures by Brunelleschi, Alberti, Michelozzo, Sangallo, seen during its Florentine stay, became for Leonardo a field of experimentation for the development of architectural prototypes, interactions between buildings and urban surroundings, new parameters of functionality and hygiene which define the ‘city of Leonardo’. A city made not only of spatial configurations but, above all, of flows of matter and energy those configurations must support, in a game of water and people movements where each design operation recognizes the vital breath of territorial ecosystems

Abstract: The effects of climate change are appearing before us and show the fragility of settlements that are no longer able to manage natural phenomena and therefore their increasingly effect on them. The process of morphogenesis of cities has sedimented spatial configurations, which over time have lost the ability to manage a dynamic balance with the metabolism of the reference environment. The contribution presents a research study aimed at the planning of the Tuscan coast, in which, a novel methodology is proposed for the regeneration of patterns no longer able to manage the current metabolic flows

Abstract: In recent years, Tuscan coastal areas have been repeatedly affected by more and more intense weather phenomena, which have caused damage to people and urban settlements. Extreme weather events such as intense downpours, floods, whirlwinds and powerful sea storms, together with critical issues due to ongoing coastal erosion, highlight a number of problems. The physical definition of the coastal system and the management definition of same are topics that sets the goal of defining a possible methodological approach through the presentation of the case study for territorial planning
