Abstract: The negative impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic is difficult to assess because of its far-reaching regional and global effects. We need to consider how the pandemic has affected individuals and their personal interactions, children and youth, economy, health care, trade, tourism, entertainment, culture, and gastronomy. In other words, we need to understand the negative impact of COVID-19 on entire societies. International politics and global supply chains have also been negatively impacted by the pandemic. This volume offers twelve essays that tackle the various aspects of the pandemic's effects, in diverse geographical regions from Latin America, USA, Europe to the Middle East, Asia, and the former Soviet space. Each essay also considers the conditions for the possibility of a more peaceful and productive global cooperation amidst the growing antagonisms between global powers recently intensified by the pandemic
